🚨 Must read notes from yesterday’s AI Adoption session at the National Homeland Security Conference. Thanks to Alec, Jim, and Felipe for a lively discussion on the bright future ahead.
🗞️ sharing a few nuggets from an awesome day at the National Homeland Security Conference in DC EM1 hosted a packed room discussing the AI Adoption Journey. One thing’s clear: adopting AI is no longer an if question, it’s a how. Everyone is wondering where to get started, how to demonstrate success, and expand pilots into wide-scale deployments that create efficiencies and deliver results. A few takeaways: 💪 Alec Eaton flexed real-life EM use cases around planning, exercise development, and how EM1 has force multiplied his 2 person shop to deliver for his community. His key point: the best way to get started is to get started. Build the muscle! 📈 Jim Kapsis challenged jurisdictions to map their buying process and be transparent with vendors - create clarity on the goals and how success will be measured. 👆👇 Felipe Millon outlined the bottoms up and tops down strategy he advises for every agency he works with. Bottoms up: get folks using AI in basic tasks - get them comfortable doing low-risk things like polishing emails. Top down: map out where AI can transform key workflows and bring in team members and vendors to build against those. That last point is where EM1 is partnering alongside agencies at all levels - city, county, state. It is incredible inspiring to see the dedication of everyone to embrace change and envision a better, brighter future in supporting communities and helping people 👏
