On this day in 2009, we completed the 56-mile Katy Expansion pipeline project in southeast Texas, increasing the capacity of our existing ETC Katy natural gas pipeline by more than 400 million cubic feet per day. This expansion strengthened our natural gas intrastate infrastructure and enhanced our ability to meet growing energy demands across the region.

The real heroes this week are the men and women across the country braving frigid temperatures to keep our natural gas and oil infrastructure operating—helping communities stay warm, safe, and secure. We especially thank our Operations teams for their extended shifts, sleepless nights, and round-the-clock monitoring. From compressor stations to pipelines and other critical assets, their dedication ensures our systems continue to operate reliably, even in the toughest conditions. Reliability doesn’t happen by chance—it’s built by people who show up every day. To our employees working through this winter weather: thank you. Your commitment keeps America moving.

📍 Red Bluff Express | West Texas From West Texas to market, built to move energy forward. Completed in 2018, the Red Bluff Express Pipeline spans ~100 miles across five West Texas counties, safely transporting natural gas from multiple facilities to the Waha Hub. By expanding access to key markets, it supports reliable U.S. energy production while creating meaningful local impact. The pipeline also contributes approximately $5 million each year in ad valorem taxes, directly benefiting the counties it serves. Swipe through for a look back at construction and the teamwork that brought this critical infrastructure online.

Severe winter weather is impacting parts of the country. The safety of people, both in the areas affected and those supporting operations, is our top priority. Our teams completed winter preparedness work last fall, well ahead of cold weather, and those plans are now being actively implemented. This proactive approach is part of how we operate year-round to help ensure our systems remain safe and reliable, even during extreme conditions. While our infrastructure is designed to perform in severe weather and we do not anticipate operational impacts at this time, we have taken additional precautions by staging extra crews at key locations and placing equipment on standby, including generators, hot-start engines, and steam trucks. Thank you to our operations teams working around the clock to help keep communities warm and energy moving safely during this challenging weather.
