Big thanks to Jobs for the Future (JFF), The Families and Workers Fund @ W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research and Gallup for surfacing an issue that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. The new American Job Quality Study shows that just 40% of people in the U.S. have what’s considered a “quality job." That stat hit me hard. At EnGen, we talk a lot about what it takes to connect people with meaningful employment — not just having a job, but one that helps build a future. And I keep coming back to this: we can't expand access to quality jobs without expanding access to education and upskilling, including English upskilling. This study is a call to action. Let’s make sure everyone has the chance to thrive at work.
Today, we're excited to launch the American Job Quality Study (AJQS), the first nationally representative survey to measure workers’ experiences to assess job quality across the U.S. workforce. Jobs for the Future, Gallup, The Families and Workers Fund, and the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research led the study, which surveyed more than 18,000 workers across industries, occupations, regions, and employment types. The results are striking: Quality jobs are linked to better outcomes at work and in life—and they drive business success. But the study shows that only 40% of U.S. workers hold quality jobs. The study defines job quality across five dimensions: • Financial well-being • Workplace safety and respect • Growth opportunities • Voice in decisions • Schedule control AJQS offers a tool for businesses, policymakers, and advocates to make more data-driven decisions about workforce strategies and investments to improve job quality. We invite you to explore the data, share it widely, and join us in building a future of work where quality jobs are the rule, not the exception. https://hubs.la/Q03NVL4h0 #JobQuality #FutureOfWork #EconomicMobility
