EOLIAN partner and communication and dissemination lead The European Composites Industry Association; EuCIA visited Dresden this week for #JECForumDACH 2025. Organised by JEC in partnership with AVK, this highly-focused composites event fosters innovation, business development and cross-border collaboration. An ideal opportunity for EuCIA to share information about #EOLIAN and its mission to develop novel wind turbine blades based on vitrimer composites, as well as PLEIADES project, which is exploring vitrimer applications in aerospace. Both projects align perfectly with EuCIA's latest initiative to advance composites circularity, the European Circular Composites Alliance. #composites #vitrimers #circulareconomy #sustainability #innovation #europe #ECCA

Bio-based, repairable & recyclable vitrimer composites & advanced sensors for highly reliable, sustainable wind blades
About us
The EOLIAN project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 101147532. OUR PARTNERS: Proplast (project coordinator), Politecnico di Milano, Zorlu Enerji, IRES, Norvento Enerxía, Tekniker, European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA), AEP Polymers, Entelea, Brunel Composites Centre (Brunel University London). OUR GOAL: The development of wind turbine blades with longer lifetime, better maintainability and reliability, together with higher sustainability and recyclability. This will be achieved by the use of biobased reparable and recyclable basalt fibre-reinforced vitrimer composites and the integration of advanced recyclable sensors and actuators which will perform structural health monitoring of the blades. The design phases will be supported by advanced multiscale modelling to ensure the highest performance levels and by LCA-based environmental analysis to guarantee the best approach in terms of carbon footprint and sustainability. Funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or CINEA. 💡Creating a circular future for wind energy! The wind industry is committed to full sustainability, from innovation that makes turbines last longer and need less maintenance, to repurposing and recycling of components at the end of their service life. Turbine blades, manufactured from strong, durable composite materials that are inherently challenging to recycle, are a particular focus of attention. #EOLIAN proposes a new generation of blades with enhanced lifetime, maintainability, reliability, sustainability, and recyclability. This will be achieved through a combination of advanced materials and technologies: repairable and recyclable bio-based vitrimer resins, high-performance natural fibres, and embedded sensors and actuators enabling real-time damage detection and de-icing. 🔽 Here's snapshot of our project's objectives, and you can discover more on our website https://lnkd.in/eQ5UVatX #windenergy #sustainability #blades #EoL #recycling #maintenance #repair #vitrimers #composites #basaltfibres #HorizonEurope
