Eliminating racism, empowering women, and creating real change—that’s the heart of the YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County’s Empowering Women’s Luncheon. We stand in strong support of this vital mission. The event wasn’t just a gathering—it’s a movement. It fuels the YWCA’s work to provide safe housing, crisis support, and opportunities for women to rise and lead in our community. This year’s keynote speaker, MC Lyte, shared her story of resilience, purpose, and courage and what’s possible when women are supported and seen.

Today, we celebrate the strength and resilience of individuals living with cerebral palsy—and we’re proud to spotlight one of our own employees: Chad Williams. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at just two years old, Chad has spent his life overcoming obstacles that most runners never face. From years of physical therapy to a surgical procedure in his youth, every step Chad takes is a testament to his determination. In 2022, Chad challenged himself in a new way—through running. He started with a 5K obstacle race and quickly discovered he was just as capable as every other runner. That realization propelled him forward, and he ran a race every month that year, including his first Boilermaker 15K. This July, Chad returned to the Boilermaker with someone incredibly special by his side—his 17-year-old son, Chad Michael. Crossing the finish line together furthered his celebration of perseverance, pride, and the legacy of strength Chad is passing on. We’re honored to share Chad’s story and grateful for the inspiration he brings to our team and community. Hear more of Chad’s journey - https://bit.ly/48jEgcp

From diabetes testing to lead exposure checks, the event empowered residents with knowledge and support they might not otherwise access. It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when community partners come together to prioritize wellness and health equity.
