Flexport.org is honored to be featured in UNICEF Supply's Annual Report 2024! Last year, Flexport.org supported UNICEF with in-kind transportation of essential supplies to several countries impacted by emergencies. These initiatives helped get antibiotics to Afghanistan; tents and food aid to Niger and Bangladesh, supporting emergency flood responses; PPE and medical supplies to Kenya, supporting the Mpox response; and food aid to children in Gaza. We're proud to continue partnering with UNICEF to expand timely access to life-saving supplies, while exploring new opportunities to address the logistics bottlenecks of humanitarian response. During last week’s Freight Market Update Live webinar, we asked our attendees about their current inventory levels. Nearly 72% of shippers said they have what they need or too much, while 28% said they had too little inventory. “No one seems to be seriously over inventory, and no one seems seriously under inventory,” said Nathan Strang, Flexport’s Director of Ocean Freight. “This suggests that current booking surges are very much tariff-related.” Watch the full webinar on demand for more insights: https://lnkd.in/eCuVQ6yH

Given the temporary U.S.-China trade agreement, existing backlogs, and the lead-up to peak season, demand on the Trans-Pacific Eastbound has surged—just weeks after ocean carriers cut about 25% of sailings scheduled for late April and early May. The recent demand spike means shippers are rapidly booking up vessel capacity, prompting carriers to deploy extra loaders and resume suspended services. A total of seven out of ten suspended service loops are now scheduled to resume—some as soon as this week. This week in global logistics: a federal court strikes down IEEPA tariffs, volumes on the TPEB surge, European ports see major delays, and global air cargo volumes rebound. ⚖️ Court of International Trade Invalidates President Trump’s IEEPA Tariff Executive Orders: Yesterday’s ruling impacts the 25% IEEPA tariffs on Canada and Mexico, the 20% IEEPA tariff on China, and country-specific IEEPA reciprocal tariffs. Per the ruling, U.S. Customs will stop collecting duties from these tariff orders within 10 days. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has appealed the decision, asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to stay the order. 🇺🇸🇪🇺 50% Tariff on EU Delayed Until July 9: On May 25, President Trump announced that he would delay implementing a 50% levy on the EU until July 9. In the meantime, the U.S. and the EU will attempt to reach a trade deal. 🚢 Ocean Freight Trends: • Strong volume surges and improved capacity on the TPEB, with full capacity expected to be restored by the end of June • Further TPEB blank sailing improvements: a 15% cancellation rate this week (-10% WoW), followed by a projected 10% cancellation rate in the second week of June • Major increases in berth wait times at the Ports of Bremerhaven, Hamburg, and Antwerp ✈️ Air Freight Trends: • Global air cargo volumes rebound 6% WoW, primarily driven by the Asia-Pacific • U.S.-China traffic surges 19% WoW following temporary tariff agreement announced on May 12, reversing two weeks of declines Read the full newsletter and subscribe for future updates: https://flx.to/59p #supplychain #logistics #freightmarket #freightindustry #oceanfreight #oceancargo #oceanshipping #airfreight #aircargo #airshipping #trucking #intermodal #railfreight

Yesterday, the Court of International Trade (CIT) invalidated four of President Trump’s executive orders that imposed tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The ruling impacts: • 25% IEEPA tariffs on Canada and Mexico • 20% IEEPA tariff on China • Country-specific IEEPA reciprocal tariffs (ranging from 10-67%, and formerly 125% on China) Per CIT’s ruling, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will stop collecting duties from these tariff orders within 10 days. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has already appealed the decision and asked a higher court to stay the order. A stay of the order would mean the IEEPA duties remain in force, and the appeal process would likely escalate to the Supreme Court. What happens next, and what other tools could the Trump administration use to impose tariffs? Get the full update on our live blog: https://lnkd.in/e7KFUgdB
