A non-profit organization dedicated to relieving hunger and food insecurity in metro Detroit.

About us

Forgotten Harvest was formed in 1990 to fight two problems: hunger and waste. Forgotten Harvest “rescued” and distributed 40 million pounds of food last year by collecting surplus prepared and perishable food from 800 sources, including grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors and other Health Department-approved sources. This donated food, which would otherwise go to waste, is delivered free-of-charge to more than 200 emergency food providers in the Metro Detroit area. • Earlier in October, we were honored to have been part of Kroger's Two States, One Plate event this year! Almost 600 volunteers gathered at Fifth Third Field to pack and distribute 25,000 meal kits, the equivalent of 2.6 million servings of food, to households in need across Michigan and Ohio. We received 55 pallets of meal kits that contained breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. 💚A heartfelt thank you to Kroger, every single volunteer, and everyone who helped coordinate this event. Together, we help nourish families throughout Metro Detroit.
