NYvsNY began as an ambitious idea: Create a summer tournament series that showcases New York City’s top high school basketball talent, celebrating borough pride and the city’s unique hoops culture. In a place where basketball is everything, that’s no small feat. "There isn’t anything in the basketball world quite like New York vs New York," says Kevin Santana, NYC/East Brand Director, Jordan Brand. The Nike-fueled series has grown beyond just a tournament. Now in its latest season — with this year’s championship tipping off today — it’s become a stage for the city’s hottest high school players to represent their neighborhoods and celebrate the spirit of NYC basketball. It’s an experience unlike anything else out there. "NYvsNY changed the game forever. It’s the purest form of New York City basketball and culture," Santana says. For him, helping to shape and grow NYvsNY has been one of the most rewarding projects he’s worked on at Jordan Brand. "It takes a village to make this happen and the bonds you build in the trenches are irreplaceable," he says. "It’s challenging, competitive and ultimately incredibly rewarding. While The Rooftop at Pier 17 is best known for the Summer Concert Series, it’s also become a go-to destination for high-profile events looking to make a statement, with panoramic views of the Brooklyn Bridge and East River setting the scene. Last weekend, The Rooftop welcomed the Jordan Brand’s global finals of The One, a basketball competition spotlighting elite 15–18-year-old athletes from around the world. To bring the event to life, the space was transformed, including a custom-built basketball court, creating a dramatic stage for competition and celebration. The evening culminated with a spectacular drone show spanning the East River. Basketball court one weekend, concert stage the next. Congratulations to our partners at Abercrombie & Fitch Co. on announcing a multi-year partnership as Official Fashion Partner of the National Football League (NFL). Abercrombie will partner with players across the league and launch the Abercrombie Style Concierge, a first-of-its-kind service providing curated outfitting for select NFL athletes. Keep an eye out for the brand’s national campaign “Style Concierge” that will feature players known for their personal style off the field and represent the largest advertising investment the brand has made in the sports space. Our Brand Marketing division supported negotiations for the official NFL partnership and will manage and activate the collaborations across Abercrombie’s new portfolio of league, team, and talent partnerships.
