"Stigma is the enemy of mental health care." – Bebe Moore Campbell July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge and address the unique mental health challenges impacting Black, Indigenous, and Peoples of Color. This month also honors the legacy of Bebe Moore Campbell, a journalist, best-selling novelist, and tireless advocate who worked to improve mental health access for underserved communities. Her work explored the intersectionality between mental health, race, family dynamics, environment, culture, and beyond. She continuously wrote about the impact of real, historical events on Black and marginalized communities, bringing conversations about race to the forefront of society. Let's use this month as a reminder on the importance of advocating for communities of color. Starting conversations is an important step toward breaking stigma and promoting more open dialogue. At Cerebral, our mission is to not only make mental health care more accessible, but also provide resources for all individuals on their mental health journey. • Text: Culture, ethnicity, generational differences, and race all play a role in the way an individual experiences the world.

These factors can have an impact on mental health, especially for Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC).

What are some signs that you're healing? ❤️🩹 1. You're better at expressing your emotions - anger, sadness, stress - without feeling overwhelmed or panicked by the acknowledgment. 2. You can recognize your triggers and prepare or anticipate them, like setting boundaries or planning ahead. 3. You replace negative with more positive self-talk. Think "I can't handle this" to ➡️ "Let me take this one step at a time." 4. You can bounce back more quickly after setbacks or don't feel as defeated by challenges. If you're still struggling with things like this, don't be discouraged. Building resilience is a lifelong journey. ☀️

  • According to the World Health Organization, about 3.6% of the global population has experienced PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) at some point in their lives. As we wrap up the month of June, it's imperative that we continue to break the stigma, spread awareness around PTSD, and remind our loved ones that they're not alone. Supporting a friend, partner, or family member with PTSD can start with educating yourself, listening, and offering small acts of kindness. 🫂 To connect with a mental health professional and get ongoing support for PTSD, visit https://cerebral.com. 👉 RESOURCES: - Call 911 if you’re having a mental health emergency - Text HOME to 741-741 if you're in emotional distress and need immediate support - If you or someone you know has suicidal thoughts, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

  • We see you. We stand with you. We support you. 🏳️🌈 June 28th marks International LGBT Pride Day. Also known as Stonewall Day, today we commemorate the Stonewall riots of 1969, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. Together, we honor the resilience and courage of those who paved the way for equality. But our work isn't done. Our mission is to ensure everyone, regardless of their identity, feels seen, valued, and safe. It's essential we continue to advocate for love, acceptance, and pride. 💜

    • Text: Sending love to those who are:

Figuring things out
Mourning the loss of loved ones
Feeling alone right now
Fighting for their identity
Scared to come out
Struggling with their mental health
