For our Louisiana clients, please take a look at this post, as it can affect your insurance claim.
‼️ New Louisiana Insurance Law Alert – What You Need to Know (Effective Aug 1, 2025) ‼️ Louisiana has just passed a major update to its insurance laws, which affects how and when claims are paid. Insurance companies can now require a formal “Proof of Loss” form before paying your claim — BUT only if they follow all of these steps: 1. Your policy must specifically say it’s required, 2. The form must be approved by the Insurance Commissioner, 3. You must receive the form within 10 days of filing the claim, and 4. The insurer must confirm if it’s complete within 10 days of receiving it. ❗ If they miss any of these steps, they can’t delay payment and must pay based on any written estimate or report you submit. Why it matters: If you’re a hotel owner or property manager, this law could impact how quickly you get paid after a hurricane, fire, or other disaster. #Hotelowner: Stay proactive. Know what your policy says. Keep your documentation in writing. And don’t hesitate to push back if payment is delayed unfairly. #InsuranceClaims #HotelOwner #LouisianaLaw #ProofOfLoss #PropertyDamage #DisasterRecovery #HospitalityIndustry #AAHOA
