Domestic abuse is a recurring pattern of controlling behavior aimed at exerting power over a partner or family member—physically, emotionally, sexually, and/or psychologically. During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we stand united in raising awareness, striving to prevent abuse, empowering survivors toward independence, and encouraging communities to speak out against domestic violence. Domestic abuse is not a tradition. It is not a cultural norm. It is never acceptable. Did You Know? 1 in 3 women have experienced physical violence at some point in their lives. Domestic abuse in men is underreported due to stigma and other barriers for support Over 84% of Native American women have faced violence—2.5 times more than any other racial group. In the LGBTQ+ community, intimate partner violence occurs at rates equal to or even higher than in heterosexual relationships. From September 15 -October 15, we honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities — whose stories, leadership, and creativity continue to shape our world and our industry. Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 to mark the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua — followed by Mexico (Sept. 16) and Chile (Sept. 18). At Global Gaming Women, we celebrate diversity as the foundation for innovation, collaboration, and growth in gaming. Ways to celebrate & honor this month: - Attend cultural events and performances. - Support Hispanic-owned businesses. - Learn about influential Hispanic leaders in gaming and beyond. - Share your own heritage stories and traditions. Join the conversation: - What’s one tradition from Hispanic culture that inspires you? - Who is a Hispanic leader that has made an impact on your life or career? - How can we create more opportunities for Hispanic women in gaming? Let’s celebrate the voices, talents, and legacies that enrich our industry every day. #HispanicHeritageMonth #GlobalGamingWomen #WomenInGaming #DiversityInGaming #CultureAndCommunity
