We’re honored to receive a Luminary Award from the Women's Foundation of Genesee Valley! This award recognizes those making a meaningful impact in the lives of women and girls in the Greater Rochester area—a commitment that is deeply connected to what we do at GCH. As Dr. Jill Halterman, our Physician-in-Chief, says: “By supporting women and girls, you help ensure that children have the stability, encouragement, and resources they need to thrive—and that is at the very heart of our mission.”

Thank you to The NASCAR Foundation and Watkins Glen International for fueling the fun yesterday! Our patients unwrapped Speedy Bear gift boxes, families got an up-close look at two NASCAR pace cars, and we enjoyed a car-themed play session on the play deck—complete with the Cars soundtrack!🏎️🏁

So. Much. Goodness. In. One. Photo. 💙⛳️ The Rawden family launched the #OurNash Golf Outing in 2022 in honor of their son Nash, a GCH cardiology patient. This year’s tournament raised an incredible $62,130! Working with our pediatric oncology team, they chose to support patients by funding HEPA filters for play areas — giving bone marrow transplant patients safe spaces to play during long hospital stays. Thank you to the Rawden family and everyone involved in another successful outing, and to the Smith family for sharing co-captain Beckham’s journey with retinoblastoma as part of this year’s effort. 💛

“Kobi has sickle cell.” Those are words her mom will never forget. At just a week old, their world shifted—but in that moment of fear, Dr. Suzie Noronha offered the comfort, reassurance, and hope they needed for Kobi’s future. Since then, Kobi's journey with sickle cell disease has involved daily medications, regular appointments, and unexpected hospital visits. Through it all, she’s shown nothing but strength, light, and joy. Now three years old, Kobi loves to dance, splash in the water, learn new things, and be silly with her friends. "Even on the hard days, she finds a way to smile," her mom shares. "Her laughter is contagious, and her resilience inspires everyone around her." We’re so proud of you, Kobi—and of all our Sickle Cell Warriors here at GCH! #SickleCellAwarenessMonth
