Q3 2025 Roundup: 88 modules deployed across 51 communities in 16 U.S. states and Bermuda. One mission: making #localgovernment work better for everyone. We're also pleased to have welcomed 5 new partners in NJ and LA to GovPilot. And we're thrilled that the City of Newark, NJ renewed their commitment to digitally transforming their marriage license application process, too. That's nearly 200 customers and growing. That's because when they use GovPilot, their constituents don't always have to drive to Town Hall during business hours. Now, they can: - Apply for licenses and permits from their phones - Register businesses in minutes - Get a badge before they go to the beach - Report a pothole anytime - So much more For municipal and county staff, that means fewer phone calls, less data entry, faster approvals, and more efficient operations. To the nearly 200 local governments we serve: thank you for trusting us to help you modernize how government works. We don't take that responsibility lightly. What's one service your residents wish they could access online? Let us know in the comments. #GovTech #DigitalTransformation #PublicSector #MunicipalInnovation

Our teams talks with Building and Construction officials across the country, and they keep hearing about the same challenge: understaffed inspection teams buried in administrative work. Take the City of Trenton, NJ, for example. Their ten #buildinginspectors were each spending 10 hours per week transcribing handwritten field notes back at the office. That's 400 hours every month lost to data entry instead of inspections. They solved it by switching to GovPilot and the GovInspect mobile app. Now their inspectors can complete everything digitally and in the field: automated scheduling, pre-populated forms, photos attached instantly, and work orders issued on-site. No clipboards, no double entry, no lost time. The result? Those 400 hours went back to actual inspections. #localgovernment #GovTech #mobileapps

Even the best software and the smartest plans can crash and burn if you're not watching out for these… 6 pitfalls to plan against (and what to do instead), according to the International City/County Managers Association. 1. Excluding end-users from the process When end-users aren't involved early, expect resistance later. People support what they help create. Skip their input, and you'll miss critical insights while losing their buy-in. Instead: Implement WITH people, not TO them. Involve staff and end-users from day one. 2. Poor communication and misalignment If leadership and staff aren't aligned, or stakeholders are left in the dark, you're breeding confusion and pushback. Instead: Ensure clear, ongoing communication about project goals and next steps. Transparency is the foundation of success. 3. Under-resourcing and inadequate planning If you underestimate costs or ignore change management timelines, you set your team up to underperform. Instead: Budget adequate time to properly onboard and train staff, and choose a vendor with a comprehensive training program and unlimited support. You'll realize greater long-term gains. 4. Leadership and accountability gaps When leaders aren't fully engaged or lack the skills to guide effectively, everything downstream falls apart. Instead: Ensure executive buy-in from the start, track progress consistently, and hold everyone accountable to milestones. 5. Analysis paralysis and perfectionism Getting stuck in endless refinements can paralyze a project and delay real progress. Instead: Launch, learn, and iterate. Listen to feedback (both positive and negative) and be willing to adapt as you go. 6. Treating security as an afterthought Overlooking risks or compliance requirements can open the door to serious problems down the line. Instead: Make security non-negotiable. Choose SOC 2 Type II attested solutions with multi-factor authentication, and make data security part of your training from day one. What implementation pitfalls have you encountered? What would you add to this list? #GovTech #DigitalTransformation #ChangeManagement #PublicSector #ProjectManagement #Leadership

It's just weeks away, and we're excited about the New Jersey State League of Municipalities conference. GovPilot will exhibit at Booth 1803, showcasing how cities, towns, and counties can simplify and unify their operations with a secure and cost-effective cloud-based platform. From electronic permitting to OPRA requests and more, see live demos and meet our team. You'll discover the hundreds of ways we're helping local governments across #NJ and beyond improve resident services, drive efficiency, and sustain community growth. We're also sponsoring a Tuesday evening event exclusively for local government officials at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Look for an invitation via email or stop by Booth 1803 to register. It's the best social gathering after hours, and we'd love to connect in person. #NJLeague25 #localgovernment #GovTech #PublicSector #NewJersey

Construction officials: do any of these sound familiar? - Your inspectors spend hours each week on manual data entry. - Constituents call asking, "Any update on my permit?" - Your team spends as much time answering phones as reviewing applications. You're not alone. Many permitting operations are drowning in administrative work that pulls focus from moving projects along safely. Here's what's possible: boost inspector productivity by 50% without hiring additional staff. The key is keeping inspectors in the field by automating data entry and deploying mobile apps. Want to see how this would work for your department? Let's talk. #PermitManagement #GovTech #LocalGovernment #MunicipalInnovation

The shift to success with #localgovernment management software? A simple pivot from "how does it work?" to "what makes it work." Having data in one place, mapping data with a geographical information system (GIS), and automating workflows saves time and money and can help local governments deliver faster, better services. But people deliver the services. That's why people are at the center of what makes #digitaltransformation work. Here are 5 principles common to the transformations GovPilot customers have been able to achieve: 1. Leaders commit to real change over time They deployed an integrated platform across departments, creating synergy instead of silos. But they phas rollout by starting first with one department or one process and build momentum from that point. 2. They invest in people, not just technology. Training, communication, process redesign, and leadership support ensured the technology could work for everyone. Meanwhile, experienced users and new hires have unlimited customer support and can access training online 24/7 from the GovPilot Academy. 3. They automate what doesn't need a human touch. Inspection workflow routing, concern and complaint logging, status updates, and other repetitive processes happen automatically, freeing staff for more productive work like inspections and more complex human interactions. 4. They empower residents to self-serve. When citizens can submit forms, track progress, and get alerts online, staff gain capacity and residents gain confidence in their local government. 5. They build resiliency for the unexpected. Choosing a cloud-based platform enables continuity through unexpected events. Are you ready to modernize your processes? ⬇️

Here's another reason your vendor matters. When your #BuildingDepartment requests a new permitting system, or #PublicWorks advocates for modern work order software, you’re not just evaluating a technology purchase. You’re deciding whether to lead an 18-month (or longer) organizational change initiative that the right software vendor can help drive forward. 💡 Selecting the software is the easy part. The real challenge lies in everything around it: politics, workflow redesign, data migration, workforce training, and sustained executive focus. 🤲 The rewards are worth it: time saved, costs reduced, better service delivery, and greater community impact. 👉 Just remember that change management is the project. Human behavior and relationships determine success. Success belongs to counties and municipalities that treat modernization as a change initiative, not a shopping decision. #GovTech #DigitalTransformation #LocalGovernment #PublicSector #Leadership #ChangeManagement #GovPilot

As the year winds down, cyber threats ramp up. For local governments, this trend can be especially dangerous. Cybercriminals know that the end of the calendar year brings budget deadlines, holiday schedules, and reduced staffing for many municipalities and counties. Meanwhile, from now through December, it's crucial that every administrator be alert to these dangers: - CISA and the FBI warn that #ransomware threat actors often strike during holidays, when response times slow. - #DDoS attacks surged last year, according to Cloudflare, which recorded an 1,885% increase during the 2024 holiday season. - #Phishing campaigns also explode, with Darktrace finding 692% more Black Friday-themed and 327% more Christmas-themed lures in the week leading up to Black Friday 2024. Here's how to double down on cyber readiness: 1. Review incident response plans 2. Use only Soc 2, Type II attested software 3. Tighten email and endpoint monitoring 4. Train and remind staff to stay alert for phishing attempts 5. Patch systems before the holiday rush But why is Soc 2, Type II important? When you choose SOC 2 Type II–certified vendors for critical systems (like email security, endpoint protection, data storage, and data management platforms), you’re reducing your exposure to third-party risk. That's one of the biggest sources of breaches, so using solutions that meet verified security standards makes your detection and response capabilities far more trustworthy. Ask your vendors about SOC2, Type II compliance. #CyberSecurityMonth #LocalGovernment #GovTech #PublicSector #CyberAwareness
