The GRPS Speech and Debate team started the new season with an impressive showing at their first tournament of the year, bringing home seven trophies. For nearly three decades, Jill Staat has been an inspiring presence at GRPS, helping generations of scholars grow. As a Special Education Teacher at Alger Middle School, she says the most rewarding part of her work is the relationships she builds. “I love the students that I work with,” said Staat. “My students are the best! ✅ Ground broken! Construction is officially underway on a new, state-of-the-art elementary school on the site of Aberdeen Academy. It will be the first new school constructed in northeast Grand Rapids in 60 years! When doors open in 2027, scholars and staff from Aberdeen Academy and Palmer Elementary will come together in the new, unified learning environment.
