Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is a small business contract manufacturer providing complete in-house capabilities, including machining, US Navy-certified welding, wiring, assembly, and testing. GSM-built equipment is on every US Navy submarine. From prototype to production runs, GSM has the technical depth, program management, and manufacturing expertise to deliver performance-critical solutions. GSM has 5-axis machining up to 33ft long or 82in diameter and welding up to 35,000lbs.

It was truly inspiring to hear him share insights about the importance of the systems GSM manufactures and how vital the work we do is for the Navy and our nation. We enjoyed showing him around our production areas, new machine installation sites, and expanding facilities. Led by the Navy's Maritime Industrial Base Program, BlueForge Alliance and the University of Massachusetts Lowell, this five-year partnership is: ● Providing scholarships for mechanical engineering students who choose to pursue and graduate with an industrial engineering degree ● Connecting students with hundreds of submarine suppliers across New England ● Offering hands-on experience through co-ops, internships, and capstone projects Modern submarine manufacturing demands engineers who can bridge the gap between complex concepts and real-world production. These young learners explored advanced manufacturing firsthand during an exclusive tour of Granite State Manufacturing's cutting-edge facility in Nashua, NH. They discovered how STEM principles translate into real-world careers in defense, aerospace, and medical technology. Carrie Curtis, PhD Education Initiatives Lead for the MIB Program said, "Engaging students in hands-on STEM experiences is critical to building the future workforce that will sustain and advance our nation’s maritime capabilities.
