It’s officially Howl-O-Ween season, and one of our favorite annual traditions is here: the giant spider balloon that suspends from the rafters of the three-story Grand Lobby in our Gurnee, IL lodge. It took a team of nine artists more than 250 hours and 15,300 balloons to bring it to life. This creepy crawler will be greeting families throughout the month—and this year, we’ve added 12 little balloon spider babies to accompany her! Our South Florida lodge has also installed a massive balloon spider to welcome guests to the lodge. Be sure to check out the other amazing festivities at all our locations.

We always make it a priority to recognize talent among our Pack Members. So we’re giving a howl of congratulations to Rachel O’Connell, who has recently been promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resource Officer for Great Wolf Lodge. Rachel joined us almost nine years ago, and during that time she has continuously made a positive impact on all our HR programs: development, training, recruitment, performance management, and so much more. Join us in welcoming her to her new role at Great Wolf.

On National Coming Out Day, Great Wolf Lodge is proud to celebrate all of our Pack Members who have made this journey, as well as those still on their own path. We encourage everyone to not only listen to others who may have a similar story, but to amplify their voices and help foster an atmosphere of respect for all. #LGBTQ

While the number of people with disabilities currently employed in the U.S. is going up, there’s still a long way to go. Great Wolf Lodge is committed to helping close this opportunity gap, by supplying equitable resources to our pack and doing our part to recruit and support those looking for accessible careers. This #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth, we encourage everyone to do the same. Together, we can help make the future look different than today. #WeAreOnePack

This past week, Great Wolf Lodge Texas Gulf Coast celebrated its one-year anniversary. In honor of this milestone, the lodge hosted a charity event featuring Houston pro basketball stars Josh Okogie and Reed Sheppard. The pair teamed up to sink as many shots as possible into the hoops at Great Wolf’s activity pool in four and a half minutes—with every shot equaling a contribution to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston, for a grand total of $10,000. After the challenge, the players joined kids from the Boys and Girls Club to celebrate with a high-energy race down one of our waterslides. It was a joyful day full of giving back and supporting the local Houston community. Here’s to many more anniversaries in the years to come!

Each month, we take time to recognize one of our long-running Pack Members who have made a career at Great Wolf. Today, we have a special recognition, as Keith Furnas, the General Manager of our Webster, TX lodge, is retiring—after 18 years of bringing his passion and knowledge to 10 lodges, beginning as an IT Manager and rising through a variety of positions. “It’s been an unforgettable journey filled with growth, challenges, and countless memories,” he tells us. “I’m deeply grateful for the amazing people I’ve had the privilege to work alongside and the guests who made every day meaningful. “Thank you to everyone who has been part of this chapter—I carry your impact with me into the next adventure. Here's to new beginnings and lifelong memories! Great Wolf’s purpose is to bring joy to families. It sure has brought joy to mine. Howls!” Join us in offering our best wishes to Keith as he embarks on this well-earned transition. Keith F.

Thanks so much to the families and friends across the U.S. and Canada who joined us for the LuMind IDSC Family Weekend! Our partnership with LuMind IDSC, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through research and education, has brought joy to the Down syndrome community for over 10 years. We had an incredible time connecting all these families—and creating even more lasting memories. #DownSyndrome #GreatWolfLodge
