📣 GYBN: YOUTH PRIORITIES FOR SBSTTA-27 The 27th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical, and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-27) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will take place in Panama from 20 to 24 October. The items on the agenda to be discussed are the Global Report, the recent IPBES assessment, Biodiversity and Forests, Biodiversity and Climate Change, Biodiversity and Agriculture, and Biodiversity and Health, among other topics. At the beginning of September, we took part in another of JNCC's committee meeting over two days in Peterborough. Various discussions on the UK's biodiversity strategies were covered and we contributed our perspectives on these issues. Europarc Atlantic Isles are looking to award two study bursaries for young professionals (35 and under), working in protected landscapes in the UK and France, to make a trip next year to protected landscapes in the other country. Across the UK and France, protected landscapes face shared challenges: meeting people’s needs within environmental limits, supporting sustainable rural communities, fostering regenerative local economies, and caring for land for both nature and people. By learning from our similarities and differences, we can strengthen our work on both sides of the Channel.
