Yesterday in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, we joined state, healthcare, and education leaders at Dunmore School District to celebrate the launch of a new initiative bringing Hazel Health’s virtual mental health services to 80,000 K–12 students across Northeastern PA. We were joined by state, healthcare and education leaders including State Representative Kyle Mullins, State Senator Marty Flynn, Superintendent of Dunmore Public Schools John Marichak, Kiziann Powell, MPA, chief operating officer, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of PA and Aria Lee, VP, Market Leader at Hazel Health, to celebrate this important milestone for students. The need is urgent: more than 20% of Pennsylvania youth aged 12–17 reported experiencing a major depressive episode in the past year, and over half did not receive care. By making mental health services accessible in schools, we can give students the support they need to thrive academically and personally. This initiative, supported through an investment by UnitedHealthcare (https://lnkd.in/ecWKNUj6) is part of a broader effort announced last year to provide virtual school-centered mental health care for up to one million students across select states nationwide.
