Today, we are proud to announce HCA Healthcare collected 19,846 pounds of unused or expired medications during our seventh annual “Crush the Crisis” national prescription drug take back day. In total, we have now collected more than 108,500 pounds of medication since launching “Crush the Crisis” as an enterprise initiative in 2019. “I am incredibly proud of our organization in this milestone year,” said Dr. Randy Fagin, senior vice president and chief quality officer at HCA Healthcare. “At our core, we are people taking care of people, and our annual Crush the Crisis take back day is a powerful reflection of that commitment. I am grateful to all of our colleagues and local law enforcement partners for helping us to create healthier tomorrows for our communities.” HCA Healthcare facilities across all 15 of our U.S. divisions partnered with local law enforcement to help community members safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired medication. The events were held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which collected 571,054 pounds of medication. ➡️Learn more about HCA Healthcare’s initiatives to help reduce prescription drug misuse and transform pain management: https://bit.ly/3XrLFiV #HealthierTomorrows #CrushTheCrisis

Today and every day, we are honored to uplift the inspiring stories of HCA Healthcare's veteran colleagues and the positive impact they're making in the communities we serve. Meet Dr. William A. Cooper, a decorated U.S. Army veteran, retired colonel and cardiothoracic surgeon, who continues to serve others at HCA Healthcare affiliate Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia. With more than 35 years of military service – including four combat deployments – Dr. Cooper brings a deep sense of purpose and discipline to every role he takes on. Today, he is leading the creation of Reston Hospital Center’s new heart surgery program – the first new cardiac surgery program to launch in the region in nearly four decades – expanding access to life-saving care for thousands of patients. "As veterans, I think we are naturally inclined to want to give back and work for something bigger than ourselves," Dr. Cooper shared. "I would encourage any other veterans to apply that same sense of commitment, service and discipline to whatever meaningful mission you pursue in your career path, and you will excel." This #VeteransDay, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Cooper and all our veteran colleagues for their strength, determination and unwavering spirit. Today, and every day, we honor the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. We are proud to recognize our veteran colleagues, patients and families whose service and sacrifice embody our mission: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. Since 2012, HCA Healthcare has hired more than 65,000 veterans, active-duty and reserve personnel and military spouses. In honor of #VeteransDay, HCA Healthcare is contributing $150,000 to veteran support organizations. This year, HCA Healthcare is giving $50,000 each to Operation Stand Down, CreatiVets and @the-honor-foundation – organizations dedicated to helping veterans transition to civilian life and thrive through tailored programs and resources. “Our veterans exemplify resilience, leadership and a deep commitment to service – qualities that enrich our organization,” said Sherri Crowley, chief culture and values officer at HCA Healthcare. “We are proud to honor their service, today and every day, and remain dedicated to fostering a workplace that recognizes and uplifts the strengths of our military-connected colleagues.” We’re also honored to share that @viqtoryinc has recognized HCA Healthcare as a Military Friendly® Employer for the 15th consecutive year, earning a Gold designation for the third year in a row. We’re equally proud to be named a Gold-designated Military Spouse Friendly Employer and ranked among the nation’s top 10 employers for military spouses. ❤️🧠💬 How can collaboration across specialties help transform stroke care? Dr. Steve Manoukian, HCA Healthcare senior vice president and the American Heart Association’s 2024 Healthcare Volunteer of the Year, recently sat down with the American Medical Association to share insights from an innovative initiative that’s already improving outcomes for stroke patients. 💜We’re proud to announce that the HCA Healthcare Foundation, through its Healthier Tomorrow Fund, will strengthen its collaboration with March of Dimes through a new $1.5 million grant to support their Low Dose, Big Benefits™ campaign. Preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders affect 1 in 8 pregnancies. Low-dose aspirin is currently recommended for individuals at high or moderate risk for preeclampsia during pregnancy. Despite the benefits, low dose aspirin is still underutilized. With focus areas in Houston, Texas and Miami, Florida, Low Dose, Big Benefits aims to prevent preeclampsia risk in pregnancies through comprehensive provider education, patient and community awareness, and a quality improvement plan in Federally Qualified Health Centers to better identify health risks and support the appropriate use of low dose aspirin. ➡️ Learn more about how this grant builds on more than a decade of collaboration between HCA Healthcare and March of Dimes, united in our dedication to healthier tomorrows for moms and babies: https://bit.ly/47AqcdP #ImproveMoreLives #HealthierTomorrows
