We were proud to be part of Oakland County’s annual Manufacturing Day! Students got an inside look at our manufacturing floor, where they observed machining and fabrication in action. They also connected with our R&D team to see how we use 3D printing to drive innovation and solve real-world challenges. It was a great opportunity to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of makers, engineers, and problem-solvers. Thank you to Oakland County, Michigan Government, Oakland Schools, and all the partners who made this day possible! #MfgOak #MfgDay25 #HIROTECAmerica #BEaHIRO Lauren Cates | Nicholas Antwan, GSP | philip schnitz | James Skelton | Alex L. | Alison Lizzet
Today, #OaklandCounty celebrated its 11th annual Manufacturing Day. Manufacturing Day is a day for high school students to explore modern manufacturing and witness the industry through hands-on career exploration. This year, more than 30 local manufacturing facilities opened their doors to over 1,000 high school students from Oakland County, providing them with an up-close look at manufacturing as a potential future career option. After months of planning, these students were able to board their buses and meet with industry experts and career professionals. Here are the highlights from today’s event. Students from the Oakland Schools - Technical Campus – Northeast were welcomed to today’s event. Representative Haley Stevens flew in from Washington, D.C., to welcome students and remind them of the power of manufacturing in Michigan. David Coulter, Oakland County Executive, also stopped by to encourage students to take advantage of the opportunity to step foot inside a working manufacturing facility and explore career opportunities. Special thank you to the staff at Oakland Schools for hosting us and helping us send these students off right, and to our other partners who help make this day possible, Oakland County, Michigan Government and Oakland Community College. We would also like to thank our incredible sponsors, who each year allow us to host this event, spreading the word about advanced manufacturing careers in Oakland County. Thank you to: 🧡 Ascent Aerospace 🧡 Humanetics 🧡 PROFIL 🧡 Triple Inc 🧡 Williams International 🧡 Witzenmann Group After the kick-off event, hundreds of students from across the county boarded their buses and headed to their assigned tours. Here are the highlights! ▶️ Representative Haley Stevens stopped by ABB and shared that she is a proud champion of Michigan’s manufacturing economy and workforce. ▶️ Students who toured ABB shared what they liked about the experience and how it can help inform their future career decisions. ▶️ Construction students from Holly High School visited TSMC, an auto-parts manufacturer with over 180 employees. Students met with staff and asked questions about training, salary and more. ▶️ Students from Hazel Park High School visited Atlas Copco and learned that they ship 6 billion rivets per day! These rivets are used to assemble car parts, such as those found on Jaguars and Ford F-150s. ▶️ Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast #welding students got to put their skills to the test in a real manufacturing facility at Ascent Aerospace. ▶️ Crash test dummy manufacturer, Humanetics, hosted students from Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southwest, giving them an up-close look at their manufacturing process. This year's #MfgDay was a major success, and we're thrilled to continue the tradition of connecting these students with local manufacturers, cultivating relationships that can translate into future careers. #MfgOak
