Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center reposted this
From treating patients during the COVID-19 pandemic to discovering errors in commonly used pulse oximeters, Theodore "Jack" Iwashyna has been at the forefront of critical care. As an intensive care physician and health services researcher, he leads efforts to ensure patients fully recover after ICU stays. This vital research is largely supported by federal funding and is now at risk. “Our children are going to face diseases that we could have had cures for. When our parents, or even ourselves, go for second opinions, those academic medical centers are going to be hollowed out shells of what they once were.” #ResearchSavesLives https://lnkd.in/e2A_CK-p
