I’m incredibly proud of our Housing Partnership Network members who took to Capitol Hill during our DC Policy Meeting at the end of April. They met with 91 Congressional offices from both parties to make the case for real, bipartisan solutions to the housing cost crisis. Together, we: ✅ Urged inclusion of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act, New Markets Tax Credit Extension Act, and Neighborhood Homes Investment Act in the upcoming tax package. ✅ Thanked original co‑sponsors like Reps. LaHood and DelBene and Sens. Young and Cantwell for championing housing finance. ✅ Highlighted the critical role of the CDFI Fund and HUD’s rental assistance programs, while sounding the alarm on proposed cuts. As “housers,” it’s not enough to build and preserve - we must also tell our story, promote positive narratives, and thank policymakers who work across the aisle. Onward to more engagement, more partnerships, and more affordable homes for every family. #AffordableHousing #BipartisanAction

This week, Cinnaire's Lucius Vassar, Sabrina Iga, and Chris Neary participated in the Housing Partnership Network's (HPN) annual policy meeting in Washington, DC. On Capitol Hill, they partnered with other high-impact housing nonprofits to underscore the urgency of taking bipartisan action on housing and community development in this Congress, especially through enhancement of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, extending the New Markets Tax Credit, and preserving critically needed programs like the HOME Investment Partnership Program, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), and the CDFI Fund. We are grateful to several Congressional offices in our footprint for taking the time to meet with us and hear about the role that these programs play in supporting our communities, from rural to urban areas. Thanks to the offices of Reps. Sarah McBride (D-DE), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Shri Thanedar (D-MI), Senators Gary Peters (D-MI), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Chris Coons (D-DE) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) for their time and support!
