The Fire Marshal Deputy will apply and enforce the provisions of the adopted fire code through inspection and interpretation; plan, develop, and coordinate activities to safeguard life and property from hazards of fire and explosions; investigate the origin and cause of fires in an assigned district and at the request of local authorities; assist local jurisdictions with the prosecution of arson fires. The Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene that night to begin an investigation into the blaze, which claimed the life of a 15-year-old. The investigation remains open, though the official cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined due to the extent of destruction.
