As host—and later as a competitor—on American Ninja Warrior, Alex Weber faced literal obstacles. At the CSO Conference & Awards, he spoke about the figurative ones security leaders face every day. “The challenges of this world, the curveballs—those are never going to stop,” he said. “The answer must be that you and I are unstoppable for the people who need us.” His message of resilience, courage, and authenticity resonated across the room: “You earned your place at these awards because of who you are and how you showed up.” #Leadership #CyberSecurity #CSOConference #Inspiration #Foundry Foundry

CISOs wear a lot of hats, including that of Chief Marketing Evangelist to broadcast the value that security brings to the business. During the opening session at the CSO Conference & Awards, "Navigating Through Uncertainty: Staying Alert and Staying Sane," attendees heard from Jonathan Chow, CISO at Genesys; Frank DePaola, CISO at Enpro Inc.; and Marcus Johnston, CISO at Precisely. Choosing impactful metrics, framing security as a tool to shorten the sales cycle, and tracking revenue tied to security postures can all resonate with the board and C-suite colleagues. “Every day our role changes to some degree," DePaola said. "No other senior leadership role in the business changes as often as the CISO does.” Bob Bragdon, Publisher Emeritus Who can relate?
