Posting my regular reminder that Japanese is rated as one of the most difficult languages to learn — and the journey has been enriching and rewarding!
Helping Japanese and Mandarin learners to enhance their workplace communication for global business success. | HRD Corp Accredited Trainer
Why Do Mandarin and Japanese Top the List of the Hardest Languages? According to the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), languages are ranked from Category I (easiest) to Category V (hardest) for English speakers. While languages like Spanish and Dutch belong to Category I, both Japanese and Mandarin are placed in Category V, the most challenging tier. Why? Because they each have unique writing systems, tones (in Mandarin), and complex grammar structures (in Japanese), not to mention the deep cultural nuances embedded in daily communication. Yet, for learners who embrace the challenge, mastering them opens doors to two of the world’s most fascinating cultures and ways of thinking If you had to choose one, Japanese or Mandarin, which would you like to master first? #Mandarin #Japanese #JapaneseLanguage
