Today is World Homelessness Day. Our mission is to prevent homelessness with stabilizing and strengthening services. And our approach works: 94% of the people we served last year remained stably housed. But services alone will not address the homelessness crisis -- we need effective policies to keep people housed. Impact NW prevents homelessness by partnering with people as they navigate their journey to stability and opportunity.
About us
Founded in 1966, Impact NW is a private nonprofit organization that prevents homelessness by partnering with people as they navigate their journey to stability and opportunity. Annually, we work with over 30,000 around the Portland metro area that are in danger of losing their housing. By helping people navigate the broken safety-net system, we catalyze a cascade of stability and strength that benefits everyone in our community.

We prevent homelessness by partnering with families as they navigate their journey from housing insecurity to a beautiful life. After offering housing stabilization services like rental and utility assistance, Impact NW works alongside each family to support their long-term goals and provide upstream services to thrive such as; academic enrichment for children, positive parenting support, health resources, job/career services, addiction recovery, and domestic violence services. Thank you, Wheeler Foundation, for supporting Impact NW's Homelessness Prevention Services! #impactnw #preventinghomelessness #housingplusservices #community

First we help people navigate challenges so they do not lose their housing. Then, we help them navigate the services that will keep them remain stably housed. But it doesn't end there -- we continue to work with people, including children, to build the experiences, skills and assets that help them realize their long-term goals. That's how Impact NW prevents homelessness. Thank you to Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation for supporting this life-changing work. #impactnw #preventinghomelessness #beautifullife #housing+services #community

It’s Impact NW’s 59th Anniversary! 🎉 Impact NW was formed by neighbors who came together to combat poverty and deteriorating conditions in Southeast Portland in the 1966. And here we are, 59 years later, continuing to find ways to meet our community's most pressing needs across the Portland-Vancouver area. Because we believe that housing is a human right and that everyone deserves a beautiful life. We celebrate with deep gratitude to all who have joined us along the way: program participants, funders, partners, donors, volunteers, and staff who believe in our mission and know that when we work together, we can prevent homelessness.
