De la Villa Studio—led by architects Miguel Otero and Juan Esteve, with interior designer Alberto Mirror—renovated this 1,450-square-foot apartment in central Madrid. They considered every detail and added custom elements, such as the library, the center of the home, where books are set into varnished oak shelving, with lower cabinets upholstered in leather. Lawson-Fenning's shop on the fifth floor of a prewar cast-iron loft building in the NoHo neighborhood of New York was masterminded by Manhattan-based interior designer Josh Greene, who also conceived a 12-piece collection for the furniture brand. The plot where Loop Homes Burjassot now stands had been abandoned for a decade. The Madrid-based student-housing developer, RYA Residencias, along with Martín Lejarraga Architecture Office, has transformed the site into a block of student housing that's unlike any other. The 120,000-square-foot, 221-room residence hall is replete with amenities, such as a basement gym and a rooftop pool. Architecture studio Metanoia Designs used the natural contours of a cave for inspiration in Indian streetwear brand BLUORNG's latest retail space. The location in Gurugram, India, was set in a mall, so visual impact and spatial recall were essential. "We needed a design that stood out and invited people in,” says Shivangi Sharma, Metanoia Designs principal designer. Designer Kate Swanson recently launched Nurture by Nature, a gallery in Burlington, Vermont, with the debut exhibit “Unknown Friends,” which features dozens of furniture, lighting, and decorative pieces. Patients often arrive in pain and with limited mobility at the Hospital for Special Surgery’s new orthopedic outpatient center in Paramus, New Jersey. Gensler New York kept this context top of mind when conceiving the two-story, 30,000-square-foot facility. But the overarching goal was to create a calming, welcoming environment. “The key aspect was to streamline their journey and the flow of movement,” senior associate and design director Ju Hyun Lee says.
