CBN is extremely proud to announce that, alongside our partner, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) #NCDMV, we have received the prestigious 2025 International Card Manufacturers Association — ICMA Élan Award for the Best ID Card. The Élan Award was presented for the North Carolina Driver License at the 35th Anniversary ICMA Card Expo Gala, held in Orlando, Florida. This award marks the 5th consecutive year in which CBN has been distinguished with the award, and our 11th win overall. The ICMA Élan Awards are widely regarded as the industry’s most prestigious recognition of achievement and technical excellence. This highlights our shared commitment to delivering best in class card security, quality, and counterfeit resistance for North Carolina residents. The CBN Intuitive Design on the North Carolina Driver License demonstrates our drive towards optimizing ease of use of card inspection, integrating familiar North Carolina themes with complex security features that are easy to verify. The highly secure card design draws inspiration from the rolling hills and abundant nature of the state; including the state flower – the dogwood, North Carolina’s marbled salamander, and a Colonial Spanish Mustang. The North Carolina credential joins our collection of recent award-winning cards, including the Wisconsin Driver License (2024), the Canadian RCMP’s Possession and Acquisition Licence for firearms (2023), the New York State Enhanced Under-21 ID card (2022) and the Permanent Resident Card for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (2021) – each of which have won the Élan Award for ‘Best ID Card’ over the past five years.
