At Intrinsic, we've been supporting businesses and manufacturers who want to accelerate the introduction of AI-enabled robotics for their teams, products and customers. Unlocking the world's developer community will greatly accelerate the transition to flexible and accessible robotic solutions for businesses everywhere. To support this vision, we have two big announcements today: the launch of the "AI for Industry Challenge" and the introduction of the Intrinsic Vision Model (IVM). Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dfT2JNRA Sponsored by Intrinsic and hosted by Open Robotics, this open challenge focuses on solving complex electronics assembly problems that could help change the future of manufacturing, with a USD $180,000 prize pool. This unique opportunity provides a full "sim-to-real" journey. Participants will: • Train models using open-source tools like Gazebo or powerful simulation engines like Google DeepMind's MuJoCo and NVIDIA's Isaac Sim. • Get exclusive access to Intrinsic Flowstate and the Intrinsic platform's capabilities. • Validate their model and solutions directly on a real, physical workcell at Intrinsic HQ. Additionally, participants will use the Intrinsic Vision Model, a state-of-the-art AI model for industrial perception, that is fully integrated with Intrinsic and Flowstate. Recently validated at #ICCV2025 and BOP 2025 for delivering sub-millimeter accuracy with zero training time, IVM won 7 out of 11 benchmarks across industrial, classical and AR perception categories. Registration for the challenge is open now until April 17, 2026 — sign up today or build a team to take part, and let's bring AI to industry together! #Intrinsic #AIForIndustryChallenge #AIForIndustry #IntrinsicVisionModel

Today, we celebrate the latest release of the open source simulator Gazebo, which has remained a critical tool for robotics developers around the world for more than 20 years. With Jetty, the Intrinsic team has contributed alongside the open source robotics community to bring greater interoperability between Gazebo and ROS 2 while making sim easier and more robust. New features in this release include: • Support for standard ROS 2 simulation interfaces now enable more seamless integration with ROS 2 ecosystems and provide developers access to features for controlling and querying the simulation state. (New documentation is also available to guide users.) • Support for Zenoh as an alternative transport implementation has improved discovery, interoperability, and performance. This enables Gazebo to leverage the protocol’s features and facilitates potential integration with ROS 2 and other systems using Zenoh. • Until now, Gazebo package names included major version numbers, allowing for the installation of multiple versions. To simplify dependency management and reduce maintenance overhead, Jetty removes major version numbers from package names. • Several Gazebo APIs have been improved to streamline reinforcement learning (RL) pipelines, and an example integration with StableBaselines3 enables experimentation with RL algorithms within Gazebo to start developing and testing robotic control policies. • Other updates that respond to developer needs include Gazebo's migration to the Qt6 framework (ensuring continuity following Qt5's end of support), the ability to now scale auto-computed inertia correctly when both mass and density are specified, and more. As the Intrinsic team also leverages the capabilities of Gazebo, we're looking forward to integrating these new features and encourage others to take advantage of them too. If you're a developer actively using Gazebo, you can learn more in the release notes here: https://lnkd.in/eeKbkBhr and try out a demo world showcasing new Jetty features here in Github: https://lnkd.in/eENCGuTk. If you'll be attending #ROSCon 2025 in Singapore, Gazebo contributors will host a Birds of the Feather session you won't want to miss on Monday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m. local time. And if you're relatively new to robotics and are eager to get started, install Gazebo with ROS 2 today to start building in sim. Open Robotics

Whether you're involved with robotics or are simply interested in the industry, watch Intrinsic's Director of Delivery Andreas Bihlmaier share the trends he noticed on the floor of this year's FABTECH Expo. At the leading metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing trade show recently held in Chicago, Andreas observed the increased pairing of individual expertise with robotic systems, with the role of manual work evolving with automation equipment providing greater support, especially on repetitive tasks — and pointing toward the need for more intelligent robot systems Advances in intelligent automation, however, can be difficult to see at first glance. Andreas suggests that if you want to evaluate whether a specific robotic solution fits your needs — depending on how much volume you produce, how many different batches you have, your SKU mix — you’ll want to understand if the robot is using capabilities to adapt to what’s happening in front of it. These advances in automation are enabling robots to be able to adapt to your unique needs and workflow in new ways that haven’t been possible until recently. Lastly, Andreas notes how the increased accessibility of automation to small and medium-sized businesses will make a big difference in manufacturing, both domestically and globally. #Fabtech2025 #Automation #AI #Robots #IndustrialRobots #IndustrialRobotics #Intrinsic #IntrinsicIntelligence
