Angelman syndrome (AS) is a rare, genetic neurological disease characterized by a wide range of developmental problems like walking and balance disorders, gastrointestinal issues, seizures and little or no speech. Today, there are no approved disease modifying therapies.   To honor the AS community’s spirit of strength and perseverance, we will be partnering with Angelman Syndrome Foundation through their new Angelman Strong initiative, a series of volunteer-led walks, 5ks and community events happening across the country on May 17th. In recognition of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, our Mental Health & Wellness employee resource group hosted an interactive session titled "Mindfulness for Real People with Busy Minds," led by our own Anne Kalashian, Director, IT Business Partner. In addition to her role in IT, Anne is also a certified mindfulness facilitator and meditation teacher and volunteered to guide Ions through three activities to explore how mindfulness can improve focus, reduce stress and help us show up more fully.
