🚀 This summer, we launched the Career Kickstart pilot, a new 8-day program designed to help high school students explore real-world careers through immersive, hands-on learning. Students explored different industries through job shadows, practiced resume and interview skills, and connected directly with professionals who shared practical advice. 🎓 50 students completed the program, engaging with more than 100 professionals throughout the experience. We’re deeply grateful to our key partners, the Issaquah Schools Foundation, SanMar, and every volunteer who generously gave their time to support our students. 🌟 One highlight was the Alumni Career Panel, where ISD graduates Yumi Park, Isabelle Toader, Dil Thiagarajan and Jordan Crist shared what it’s really like to take those first steps into the workforce. Their practical advice and encouragement gave students a relatable look at life after high school and the chance to build connections with people just a few years ahead of them. 🎉 Career Kickstart was an exciting first step in expanding opportunities for students to learn from real-world experiences. We look forward to building on this pilot and continuing to prepare students for life beyond graduation!

🔎 What should high school look like today—and tomorrow? Students, families, educators, and community partners are working together to reimagine the high school experience in our district. 📚Today’s students need a high school experience built for their future, not our past. While our world has evolved, high school has largely remained the same nationwide. That’s why we are taking steps to reimagine the secondary student experience. According to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, by 2031, an estimated 72% of jobs will require postsecondary education or training, yet many high school experiences remain rooted in outdated systems that no longer serve all students effectively. Just after school got out in June, more than 50 students, parents/caregivers, community partners, educators and school leaders gathered for a two-day Educational Outcomes Audit and Analysis (EOAA) facilitated by the XQ Institute, a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 to help communities dream big about what high school can be. 🔗Read the full article: http://bit.ly/41dD1XN
