  • Big things are happening at The New Terminal One at JFK (literally). 🪨 The outdoor park outside of our arrivals hall is taking shape with massive boulders (pictured here), sourced from quarries in upstate New York from about 115 miles north of JFK Airport. Fun fact: the boulders each weigh between 8 to 16 tons and are carefully stacked to create outcroppings that echo the iconic Ramble in Central Park. When complete, the exterior landscape will also feature local plant species provided by nurseries in Long Island and New Jersey, as well as a pet relief area and educational signage on the fauna featured throughout the park.

  • As we mark Climate Week NYC, The New Terminal One at JFK is proud to put sustainability front and center. From construction to operations, here are a few of the ways we are committed to building resilience and reducing environmental impact at every step: ☀️ Our microgrid infrastructure, featuring over 13,000 solar panels—the largest solar installation in New York City—will power up to half of the terminal’s daily operations. This independent, resilient system helps to keep us running 24/7, supporting energy independence and reliability even during grid outages. ⚡Electric-powered equipment – We’re leading the way on clean mobility with 100% electric-powered ground service equipment (eGSE), slashing on-site emissions and helping foster a healthier environment for our guests and employees. ♻️ Reducing waste – Sustainability is built into our core, literally: We’re diverting the majority of construction waste from landfills. Looking ahead, we’re also targeting to divert most of our operational waste as well. We will capture rainwater for toilet flushing and landscape irrigation and capture and re-use aircraft de-icing fluid. With our ambition to attain LEED Gold and Envision Gold certifications, The New Terminal One is setting new standards for green airports and paving the way for a more sustainable future. 🌎🌳

  • Around this time two years ago, we celebrated the installation of the first beam of steel for the tree columns at The New Terminal One at JFK. 🌳✈️ Today, as we count down the months to opening, all 26 sculptural tree columns — 10 with four soaring branches and 16 Y-columns with two — are standing tall and anchoring the terminal’s iconic “butterfly roof” structure. More than just a design statement, these columns embody the core values of the New Terminal One experience: elevated architecture, thoughtful design, and an inspiring sense of place. Modeled on the aerodynamic flow of air, the structure was built to evoke the feeling of flight — light, fluid, and uplifting. Each column stretches upward, branching into graceful shapes designed to make the terminal’s vast spaces feel even more expansive. We can’t wait for our future passengers to experience a terminal that feels open, modern, and welcoming — a setting designed to elevate every step of the journey.
