Black history is our history. This month is more than just recognition; it is a time to honor our legacy and the past that has brought us to our present success. Carey K. Jenkins, founder of JGM, was the University of Southern California School of Architecture's first African American alumnus. He went on to create a legacy that laid the foundation for our firm while encouraging people to dream, challenge themselves, and have faith in their own abilities. Earl E. Gales, Jr., found JGM in 1981. He was a Los Angeles native who helped integrate Los Angeles elementary schools and later graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. His senior paper about the dismantling of the Pacific Electric Railway Red Car system gained him national attention, and he later led JGM's work on major Metro stations throughout Los Angeles. His unwavering commitment to community development and advocacy for the underserved continues to drive our work. His influence persists through the values and leadership of today's JGM. Today, JGM is led by Earl E. Gales, Jr.'s son, Ryan E. Gales, who continues to make history as one of the largest Minority-owned Architecture and Construction and Project Management firms in the nation, consistently giving back and improving infrastructure throughout our local communities. #BlackHistoryMonth #MinorityOwnedBusiness #Legacy
