In the IMC 2025 held in last week in Delhi with theme of ‘Innovate to Transform”, JioStar Head of Technology & Operations, Rajat Nigam, spoke on the session subject of SatCom policy and Eco-system enablement. His view endorsing Soft-touch regulation on the sector to enhance Satellite application focused on Media industry as complimentary and not conflicting approach to Telecom was well received. He endorsed recent steps by Government led by INSPACe towards socialising the satellite sector among all stakeholders fuelling growth environment. Rajat voiced the need to look towards innovative ideation on use of Satellite platforms for content production and content consumption. The constellations of LEO and MEO satellites for live remote production, use of Satellite for edge compute for immersive interactive content consumption and explore Datacentre on satellite are few thoughts need to develop and mature along with all stakeholders of the eco-system. India market is considerably high to allow multi back-haul infrastructure of terrestrial and satellite to co-exist.
