As we marked World Mental Health Day last week, I was reminded of a saying I come back to often: You can’t pour from an empty cup. At Johnson & Johnson, this knowledge drives our commitment to championing mental health—for our employees, for the communities we serve, and for the health workers who devote their lives to caring for others. For episode six of The Red Couch on the Road, I sat down with J. Corey Feist, JD, MBA, CEO of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation, for an important discussion about the stigma and barriers many health workers face when it comes to caring for their own mental health. To address these challenges, the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation launched the ALL IN: Well-Being First for Healthcare campaign five years ago—a coalition J&J was proud to join. Our shared advocacy efforts supported the passage of the landmark Dr. Lorna Breen Healthcare Provider Protection Act in 2021, which is now helping health workers access essential mental health care and reduce burnout across the U.S. Thank you, Corey, for your advocacy and commitment to caring for our caregivers. Today we’re announcing our intent to separate our Orthopaedics business. We’re confident this move would further strengthen the focus of Johnson & Johnson on our six key growth areas – Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular, Surgery, and Vision. It would also establish a standalone Orthopaedics business, operating as Depuy Synthes, that would be the largest, most comprehensive orthopaedics-focused company with leading market share positions across major product categories. Our leadership in neuropsychiatry spans decades of research and innovation, enabling us to help improve lives, advance care and drive meaningful change. On World Mental Health Day, we honor the strength of patients, families and communities affected by mental health disorders and remain committed to pushing the boundaries of science to deliver better therapeutic options.
With nearly 1 in 7 people worldwide affected by a mental health disorder, chances are that whether through a friend, family member, neighbor or someone in your community, all of us will be touched by its impact. We know unmet needs are urgent for people living with neuropsychiatric disorders, and we're driven to change outcomes and help shape healthier futures. Building on our long-standing leadership in neuroscience, we’re advancing innovative treatments for people living with conditions like major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Our aim is simple: to do what we can to make a difference in people’s lives. This World Mental Health Day and every day, we reaffirm our dedication to driving research, confronting stigma and supporting patients and families affected by mental health disorders. #WorldMentalHealthDay #JNJNeuroscience

We believe that a meaningful digital healthcare experience starts with empathy and understanding patient needs. That’s why Alexis Divis, a recent graduate of our Technology Leadership Development program, approaches healthcare technology with creativity, curiosity and empathy—using fresh perspectives to drive innovation and make an impact. Hear more about her journey in part 2 of the #HumansAdvancingTech series with our CIO Jim Swanson.
At Johnson & Johnson, our Technology Leadership Development Program (TLDP) accelerates recent graduates’ careers by giving them real-world experience in creating technology solutions to address business and healthcare challenges. In part 2 of my conversation with Alexis Divis, a TLDP graduate, she shares how she’s applied her unique design skills across J&J – from improving accessibility and user experiences on our websites, to championing patient voices in digital products, to lending a creative hand on community projects. What stood out most was Alexis’ definition of Tech for Good: championing our users. Her commitment to designing technology with patients and providers in mind is exactly what our mission is about. Check out our conversation below to hear her perspective. #JNJProud #TechForGood #HealthcareInnovation
