As a flagship instrument of the UN development system reform, the United Nations Joint SDG Fund is designed to empower Resident Coordinators to lead integrated, multi-agency initiatives that are fully aligned with national priorities and the 2030 Agenda.

🇹🇿 In Zanzibar, where over 80% of seaweed farmers are women, a Joint SDG Fund programme is helping transform this traditional practice into a thriving blue economy industry. By connecting farmers to finance, skills, and infrastructure, from credit guarantees and micro-insurance to post-harvest facilities, the programme is addressing systemic barriers and unlocking the full potential of Zanzibar’s seaweed sector. In the 🇵🇭 Philippines, the #DigitalPINAS initiative supported by the Joint SDG Fund and the International Labour Organization’s SCORE programme is bringing AI tools straight to small and medium enterprises. 💻 By helping teams use #AI to improve communication, safety and productivity, the initiative shows how digital transformation can empower workers and drive inclusive growth. 🇹🇯 Tajikistan is taking action to build healthier food systems and prevent noncommunicable diseases (#NCDs). In Dushanbe, policymakers, experts, and partners gathered for a two-day Policy Dialogue on Preventing NCDs through Food Systems and Multisectoral Action, co-organized by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the World Health Organization. Held under the Joint SDG Fund–financed programme “Transforming Food Systems for Better Nutrition”, implemented by FAO, UNICEF, World Health Organization, and World Food Programme, the dialogue united ministries of health, agriculture, finance, and education to strengthen national policies that promote healthier diets and reduce preventable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. By linking health and food systems, Tajikistan is advancing coordinated, evidence-based action, from reducing salt and trans fats to improving school meals, to make healthy living a reality for all. 🌱

  Farmers transforming waste into watts! ⚡   Turning what once went up in smoke into clean energy, new income, and a more sustainable future, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, 🇿🇦 South Africa’s sugarcane belt.   This local initiative shows what a just energy transition really looks like. 🌊 Across the Pacific Ocean, island nations are joining forces to bridge the digital divide and bring their communities closer together. 💻 In 🇵🇼 Palau, representatives from nine Pacific Small Island Developing States — Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Palau — came together to advance Universal and Meaningful Connectivity.
