Whoa, talk about a throwback! Eagle-eyed Tom Collins spotted this 1934 photo in the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago's Facebook page archives- the crane in the front is from W. J. Newman Company- the first generation of the Krug family in road construction, started by the great-grandfather of current K-Five owners Robert and Jennifer! Wow. The script of the photo reads: "Historical Photo of the Day: Construction of the West Side Intercepting Sewer in an area near the west end of the Chicago & North Western railroad bridge over the North Branch of the Chicago River on April 16, 1934. Various branches of the West Side Intercepting Sewer encircled the downtown Chicago business district to convey sewage to what is now the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant (WRP)."
