Our regional wastewater system serves communities across King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, and our GIS (geographic information system) team helps track more than 380 miles of pipes and much more! Watch the video to hear from our GIS team about how they support every corner of our organization.   From mapping underground pipes to planning for climate change, this team is always finding new ways to innovate, incorporate new tools such as drones, and make data more accessible. Built less than a year ago. Already essential. King County Parks opened the Foothills Trail Bridge less than a year ago, connecting King County and Pierce County across the White River. In addition to offering scenic outdoor recreation, it proved to be a lifeline when the nearby state highway bridge was closed following a crash. The Seattle Times spent time talking to residents who have relied on the new pedestrian bridge, which is part of the 22-mile Foothills Trail. King County redirected $755,000 in local funds from a canceled project to strengthen hunger relief, farms, and food distribution. ✨ 22 community organizations will receive support to purchase equipment like commercial refrigerators, freezers, and ovens.  🥕 This critical infrastructure helps safely store, prepare, and distribute fresh, healthy food.  🍽️ Together, these investments keep more nutritious, local food flowing to neighbors who need it most.  The funding will help purchase essential infrastructure — such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens — that ensures fresh, local food can be safely stored, processed, and distributed across our communities. We’re excited to announce the 2025 Re+ Circular Economy Grants recipients.     $2.17 million will go to support local waste reduction projects.
