  • “New research from Check Point reveals that while global cyber attack volumes stabilized slightly during September, ransomware and generative AI (GenAI)-related risks surged, with ransomware rising 46%. Organizations faced an average of 1,900 cyber-attacks per week, a 4% decrease from August but still a 1% increase year-over-year. … The education sector remained the most targeted, with an average of 4,175 weekly attacks per organization, a 3% decrease year-on-year, yet still far higher than any other sector. The telecommunications industry ranked second with 2,703 weekly attacks, marking a 6% rise year-on-year, followed closely by government institutions at 2,512 weekly attacks, reflecting a 6% decline year-on-year.” https://hubs.ly/Q03NY6nq0 Visit our website to learn how you can protect IP, PII, and PHI against malware and ransomware by reducing and defending the number of entry points a malicious file can enter their networks. #cybersecurity #cyberattack #ransomware #malware #contentprotection #contentsecurity

In today’s borderless digital ecosystem, data doesn’t stay behind the firewall, it moves through clouds, devices, and partners. Legacy perimeter security can’t keep up. In his latest techUK guest blog, John Lynch, Director of UK Market Development at Kiteworks, breaks down why Zero Trust is no longer optional. Built on the principle of “never trust, always verify,” it demands that every user, device, and connection prove legitimacy every time. John explores how NIST 800-207 defines the modern Zero Trust framework: 🔹 Verify explicitly 🔹 Use least-privilege access 🔹 Assume breach The result? A data-centric model that strengthens privacy, reduces compliance risk, and enables secure collaboration without implicit trust. 👉 Link to read the article in the comments. #ZeroTrust #Cybersecurity #DataSecurity #Compliance #Kiteworks

AI was supposed to fix the cybersecurity skills gap. Now it’s creating a new one. A new Tech News World (ECT News Network) piece on the 2025 Fortinet Cybersecurity Skills Gap Survey reveals this irony: 🔷 97% of security leaders are betting on AI to close workforce shortages… 🔷 Yet nearly half admit they lack the skills to implement it effectively. The takeaway is clear: AI can amplify cybersecurity teams, but only when supported by skilled professionals who can configure, interpret, and defend AI-powered tools. Otherwise, the gap between innovation and implementation continues to widen. 👉 Link to read the full article featuring Tim Freestone in Tech News World in the comments. #Cybersecurity #AI #SkillsGap #NewTalent #TalentShortage

  • Your MFT security isn’t failing quietly. It’s failing visibly. 59% of organizations already learned that lesson the hard way. Too many organizations are “secure” on paper while file transfers stay wide open. Highlights from our inaugural Data Security and Compliance Risk: MFT Survey Report: ✅ 59% experienced an MFT security incident in the past year ✅ Only 42% encrypt data at rest (government 8%, healthcare 11%) ✅ 63% haven’t integrated MFT logs with SIEM/SOC, creating blind spots ✅ Unified platforms and 90 to 100% automation cut incidents dramatically (29% vs 71% below 50%) ✅ CDR adoption sits at just 27% despite its ability to block zero-day file threats 👉 Link to learn more in the comments. #MFT #DataSecurity #Compliance #RiskManagement #Cybersecurity

  • Another Week, Another MFT Meltdown: CVE-2025-10035 This isn’t just a bug. It’s a mirror reflecting how brittle legacy Managed File Transfer really is. Fortra’s disclosure of the GoAnywhere flaw revealed hundreds of exposed admin consoles. Essentially open doors to organizations’ most sensitive data. Sound familiar? Patch. Panic. Repeat. But this time, something deeper is showing. New research shows MFT platforms carry a risk score of 4.72, one of the highest among data exchange systems. The reason? Perimeter-era architectures are colliding with AI-powered threat discovery and zero-day automation. In this Substack, we dive into: ✅ Why CVE-2025-10035 scored a perfect 10.0 on the CVSS ✅ How exposed admin consoles escalate minor flaws into catastrophic breaches ✅ Why governance maturity (still rare at just 17%) can slash risk by 21% ✅ What a modern MFT security playbook really looks like 👉 Link to learn more in the comments. #Cybersecurity #MFT #ZeroTrust #DataSecurity #GoAnywhere #Infosec #CVE

  • Your MFT Security Is Theater. 59% Got Hacked While You Were Testing. Our newly released Data Security and Compliance Risk: MFT Survey Report reveals a brutal truth: most organizations are checking boxes, not closing gaps. 59% of organizations experienced MFT security incidents last year, even though: ✅ 82% have incident response plans ✅ 74% test them regularly They’re rehearsing while attackers are stealing the show. The biggest blind spots: 🔹 Only 42% encrypt stored MFT data (vs. 76% in transit) 🔹 63% haven’t connected MFT to security monitoring 🔹 62% use fragmented systems for file sharing, MFT, and email 🔹 Government and healthcare secure just 8% and 11% of stored MFT files Even worse? Mid-market organizations, those with the most MFT testing, suffer the highest breach rates. 👉 Read the full breakdown in our latest newsletter. #Cybersecurity #MFT #RiskManagement #DataProtection #Compliance
