THE FUTURE OF HEAVY METAL WILL BE ELECTRIC AND AUTONOMOUS IF MATTHEW CHANG AND AHMED SHUBBER HAVE THEIR WAY Two innovators are redefining what’s possible in industrial automation: Matthew Chang, PE of Chang Robotics and ahmed shubber of Lumina. Matthew Chang: Electrifying Snow Removal As the founder of Chang Robotics and chairman of Kodiak Technologies, Matthew Chang is leading the development of the world’s most powerful electric snow removal vehicle. Unveiled at the 2025 International Aviation Snow Symposium, this machine isn't just for snow—it doubles as a mobile energy asset, offering backup power and microgrid capabilities year-round. Designed and assembled in the U.S., it supports multiple powertrains, including battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell, aligning with sustainability goals and qualifying for various grants. Interesting fact: The country that buys the most industrial snowplows is India. Chang Robotics is working on many different initiatives related to robotics and autonomous vehicles across Manufacturing, Health Care, Government Technology, and Customized solutions. See Comment ❌. Ahmed Shubber: Building the Tesla of Bulldozers At just 25, Ahmed Shubber is trying to revolutionize multiple industries such as construction and mining, that depend on heavy equipment. Shubber launched his company Lumina in 2021, and has progressed with building Moonlander—a 32-ton all-electric bulldozer that matches the power of a Caterpillar D9 but with a smaller footprint. Built from scratch with in-house hardware and software, it's designed for future autonomy, equipped with Nvidia chips. Starting from his parents' garage, Shubber secured $8 million in seed funding and is now raising $20–$40 million in a Series A round. Lumina plans to offer excavation services, not just machinery, aiming for $100 million in revenue within two years. You can read more about Lumina. See Comment❌ ❌. This is truly a very interesting design for a bulldozer. Caterpillar Inc., is a former client of mine. Caterpillar is the leader in heavy machinery. I have visited their manufacturing plant in East Peoria, IL, several times. It was there that I was able to operate their largest bulldozers and other equipment. I find it fascinating that Moonlander has the same pushing power of a D9 CAT. Will Caterpillar go electric? The company has designed hybrid diesel/electric dozers — the D6 XE and the prototype D11 XE. However, the majority of CAT’s equipment is powered by diesel motors. Great job, gentlemen. Keep up the excellent work. #Innovation #ElectricVehicles #AutonomousMachines #ConstructionTech #Sustainability #Leadership
