Project Update: John Ireland Boulevard Bridge over I-94 St. Paul, MN This past weekend, Kraemer crews successfully removed the Northbound John Ireland Boulevard bridge over I-94 as part of the ongoing Minnesota Department of Transportation project to replace the bridge and rehabilitate several structures in the I-94/I-35E corridor. Thanks to the hard work, precision planning, and dedication of our project team, the bridge removal was completed safely, efficiently, and ahead of schedule, allowing I-94 to reopen several hours earlier than planned. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone on the project team for their outstanding work and commitment to safety and excellence. We also want to thank the traveling public for their patience during the weekend closure. Looking ahead, removal of the Southbound John Ireland Boulevard bridge is scheduled for another weekend closure from October 24–26. It’s Hydro Highlight Friday – Three Rivers Park Coon Rapids Dam Gate Replacement. If you’re attending be sure to say hello and come connect with us. • Clean Currents Conference by National Hydropower Association (NHA) October 13-17 | Pittsburgh, PA | Booth 1145 • Midwest Hydro Users Group (MHUG) Conference October 28-29 | Wausau, WI Highlighted Project: Three Rivers Park Coon Rapids Dam Gate Replacement | Hennepin County, MN Kraemer’s preconstruction team collaborated with Hennepin County and Three Rivers Park District on an innovative Design-Bid-Build project, using a two-phase cofferdam to replace ten gates and upgrade from inflatable to hydraulic crest gates. The cofferdam safely diverted the Mississippi River and provided access via an earthen causeway. Kraemer also designed a custom hoisting system for gate removal and installation, completing the project on schedule. We’re proud to mark the official completion of the Twin Ports Interchange Project in Duluth, MN. A major infrastructure milestone delivered by the Ames-Kraemer Joint Venture, in partnership with Ames Construction and our dedicated team. This $435M project enhances safety and traffic flow across I-35, Hwy 53, and I-535, improving connectivity for over 80,000 vehicles daily, including 5,000 freight trucks. It also lays the groundwork for future improvements, including the upcoming replacement of the Blatnik Bridge, a critical freight and commuter link between Duluth, MN and Superior, WI. Huge thank you to our people who worked long days in all types of weather and stayed committed to safety and quality. We would also like to thank our suppliers, subcontractors, Minnesota Department of Transportation and the local community who brought this complex, multi-year project to life. And the Kraemer North America team will be attending a few upcoming events, be sure to say hello and connect with the team. • Clean Currents Conference by National Hydropower Association (NHA) October 13-17 Pittsburgh, PA Booth 1145 • Midwest Hydro Users Group (MHUG) Conference October 28-29 Wausau, WI Highlighted Project: Xcel Energy Moose Lake Dam Reconstruction Kraemer earned a competitive, best value project by Xcel Energy to modernize the Moose Lake Dam, demonstrating our commitment to excellence. Xcel upgraded the dam with larger slide gates to meet Wisconsin safety standards. Our team used a staged cofferdam system, maintaining flow and enabling strategic demolition, which minimized downtime and environmental impact. Despite groundwater infiltration challenges, we completed the project on schedule in June 2016, delivering a reliable, upgraded dam that meets all standards. On September 27th Kraemer North America’s WI/IL Region employees and family teamed up with Sleep in Heavenly Peace - Madison Chapter to build another 65 beds for kids in need! This is the 5th year KNA has been helping Sleep in Heavenly Peace and company-wide we have together built 752 beds to date! Thank you to everyone who was able to help and for all the bedding donations! It was a great day - Kraemer is very honored to help this wonderful organization!
