Announcing our 4th Annual KODING with KAGR on Wednesday, November 12th! "KODING with KAGR" is an evening of learning focused on students with an interest in data, technology & analytics in the sports industry. This event began with an idea to create a community among local female college students interested in STEM and sports who are traditionally under-represented in the industry. KAGR’s leadership team, comprised of 60% women, is excited to continue this initiative and open doors into sports, technology, and analytics. Students will have the opportunity to come to the KAGR offices to hear from industry leaders, learn about our work, and participate in a case competition. It was a pleasure welcoming the 8th grade students from UP Education Network to the KAGR offices yesterday! We’re proud to support initiatives that spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of data-driven decision makers. At KAGR, we believe in the power of early exposure to technology, analytics, and innovation — and it was energizing to see these young minds in action. Thanks to Michael Bower and the UP Education Network team for creating meaningful opportunities for students in our community!
Today, we kept our streak going on our "Imagine Your Future" program at UP Education Network. Our 8th grade students immersed themselves in the world of data analytics and marketing at KAGR (Kraft Analytics Group). Through an engaging, hands-on experience, students explored what it takes to "know your customer" and how to market effectively by analyzing the fan experience right alongside the professionals at KAGR. These young learners didn’t just observe. They collaborated, created, and presented. Working in teams, they built their own fan engagement promotion packages and delivered their ideas directly to the KAGR team. Not only did they get a behind the scenes look at the intersection of sports, data, and business, they also built enduring skills in communication, critical thinking, and teamwork. A special thanks to Jessica Gelman for opening the doors to our kids. And her incredible team who helped shape the learning experience alongside our team from UP! Another incredible weekend at the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference! We had great conversations, reconnected with industry leaders, and heard insightful perspectives from our partners on how data and strategy are shaping the future of sports. Our partners focused on three key areas where they are innovating through data and technology to better understand the customer, drive growth, and identify new revenue streams: 💡 Understanding the Customer 📌Kari Pequet-Gritton of NASCAR shined a light on how today’s customers expect unique, personalized experiences that foster deeper fandom, engagement, and products that can meet their evolving spontaneity 📌Bryan Lodigiani of Tepper Sports & Entertainment discussed how a true understanding of the customer through a trusted, single view of the fan is critical which not only enhances the effectiveness of sales reps but also enables capitalizing on next-generation tools like AI 💡Revenue Growth 📌Nathan Blum at NASCAR highlighted the importance of allowing the data to work for you to model and pinpoint peak purchasing moments which can empower sales teams to connect with the right customer at the right time to drive and maximize revenue 📌Brady Ulloa at Real Salt Lake / Utah Royals commented on the importance of strategically leveraging data-driven customer insights when increasing ticket prices for successful retention performance 💡 New Revenue Streams 📌Brian Higgins with the NCAA discussed the impact of the changes in the NCAA and college athletic landscape, with a greater focus on revenue generation and the role of the national office in supporting member institutions in generating new revenue 📌On her panel with Brian Rolapp and Amy Howe, Jessica Gelman discussed the future of sports business with untapped revenue streams including globalization and expansion of the broader value chain beyond ticketing and retail (e.g., premium content) and the increasing trend of sponsors wanting data to define and understand clear ROI A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to such meaningful discussions.
