Ensuring Kubernetes objects comply with organizational rules is a key aspect of maintaining secure and consistent environments. As part of the final stage in my cloud-native certification journey, I explored Kyverno, a Kubernetes Policy Management Engine. I had already experimented with Kyverno in my Home Lab, mostly by applying pre-defined policies to my clusters. During my preparation, however, I discovered that it goes far beyond policy enforcement it can also create resources during admission and verify container image signatures, making it a very versatile tool for policy management. Even though I had heard that the exam was not too difficult, I found it to be the most challenging one to prepare for, primarily because up-to-date materials are limited. A significant part of it focused on the details of custom resources and Helm chart values. As with the other certifications, diving deep into the subject sparked my curiosity about the project itself, and I’m looking forward to exploring Kyverno further in real-world scenarios.
