We’re excited to launch a new peer network for early-career agricultural service providers who offer, or want to offer, farmland access support to farmers. Kickoff session is Wednesday, October 8, from 2:00–3:30pm, and we hope you'll join us! The first session will focus on tenure basics and the service provider role. This network is designed to help strengthen farmland access support across the Northeast by building knowledge, skills, and connections. Together, we’ll learn from one another and explore practical ways to better serve farm seekers. Here’s what you can expect: - Monthly virtual drop-in sessions (second Wednesday of each month). - Topics ranging from land tenure basics and financial readiness to “soft skills” like mediation and navigating power dynamics. For future dates and topics, visit: https://lnkd.in/eHRFP7ii - A focus on interactive learning—each call will include discussion and Q&A. Whether you’re just getting started in this work or want to deepen your expertise, this is a great chance to connect with peers and strengthen your ability to support farmers on their land access journey. Register now: https://lnkd.in/eqGXFYj4 Land For Good is working in collaboration with Farmland for a New Generation New York, Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association, and New Entry Sustainable Farming Project to develop this network and offer space to connect, share, and learn.

Farmland loss is one of the greatest threats to the long-term resilience of agriculture. Town-level support is critical from local planning, policy-making, and funding decisions that can make or break whether farmland stays in farming. Communities across Massachusetts and beyond have tools available to protect farmland, but they’re often underutilized or misunderstood. Join the Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) for a practical, solutions-focused webinar featuring experts from American Farmland Trust, the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD) and Land For Good. Presenters will share concrete strategies and real-world case studies on municipal planning, Chapter 61A and Right of First Refusal, Open Space and Recreation Plans, Community Preservation Act funding, and more. You’ll walk away with actionable steps your town can take to safeguard farmland and support farmers, plus plenty of time to get your questions answered. If you hope to lease your land, think about what you are looking for in a farming tenant and lease agreement. Land For Good reposted this
Mike Ghia from Land For Good explains why it's essential for organizations nationwide to convene at conferences like Saving America's Working Lands. Together, we can do more! 🤝 “Getting out of the New England bubble was also useful for better understanding and perspective on agriculture and land access and affordability issues nationally, and to put Land For Good’s work and New England agriculture into a broader context. It also stimulated some fresh thinking,” shared Mike. Read more: https://bit.ly/4lKdqOm. #SavingAmericasWorkingLands #LandProtection
