During a webinar last week, we announced a partnership with Lightcast to ground our global workforce dialogues in data. The findings in Lightcast's Careers in Flux 2025 report cut through the noise: 51% of AI-related jobs are now outside the tech sector. Employers pay a 28% salary premium for AI skills. But here's what matters most: 8 of the 10 most-requested abilities in AI-linked roles are human in nature—communication, leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking. As Greg Muccio, Head of Talent Acquisition at Southwest Airlines, noted in our webinar: "AI is replacing work, not jobs. Tasks disappear; value moves." The challenge? "Education is not a perfect predictor anymore," says Elena Magrini, Head of Global Research at Lightcast. "Career pathways and experiential learning are what open the door." That's where the FTC Global Student Fellowship's Industry Partnership Track comes in. Start with a skills gap assessment to identify competencies you're struggling to find in entry-level candidates. Place international student teams on company-specific projects. They develop AI fluency alongside the human skills your data shows you need—before they graduate. Learn more at our NYU Abu Dhabi event, November 12-13. Contact: danielle.solar@futuretalentcouncil.com #GlobalStudentFellowship #FutureTalent #EducationInnovation #AISkills #WorkforceDevelopment

Data about the possible collapse of the American workforce is more than interesting. It is URGENT. Grateful to Lightcast and Josh Wright for joining us on American Dream Factory Podcast to unpack the data behind the skills revolution and what it means for cities, employers, and residents. This conversation matters for how local residents think about contributing to their economies, and for how nonprofits and governments think about building a meaningful future of work. We cover • The coming labor shortage and demographic drought • The shift from degrees to skills-based hiring • How cities can use data to align education and opportunity • The hidden dataset of human potential waiting to be activated The future of work will not be decided in Washington or Silicon Valley. It will be built in every city by people who turn their skills into community value. https://lnkd.in/gcaMFBmT

When we shared the Lightcast "AI Beyond the Buzz" report with AIHR | Academy to Innovate HR, one thing that really stood out from their response was how powerful it would be to combine our data and insights with their practical toolkits to help HR leaders navigate change. Turning data into insights is crucial - but we also need action to drive impact. AI is transforming every part of the HR function, including how change itself happens. And it’s starting on the ground first - not in the boardroom. While only 2% of HR job postings explicitly require AI skills, that demand is growing rapidly and already concentrated in frontline roles like talent acquisition and training specialists. With the AI revolution beginning from the bottom up, HR leaders have a unique opportunity to shift from control to facilitation - creating the right conditions for change by: 🔹 Redefining work, roles, skills, and development pathways 🔹 Encouraging team to use AI and learn from each other 🔹 Promoting fast, safe experimentation Thank you to Dr Marna van der Merwe, Dr Dieter Veldsman (Phd) and Cole Napper for the collaboration and insights. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/et23wRQE

  • “How can we make our applications smarter, more intuitive, and more valuable to our users?” The answer: data enrichment. By automatically populating and updating key information inside your software, enrichment eliminates manual entry and delivers instant, actionable context. The result? Smarter apps, happier users, and more valued unlocked. Here’s what enriched data brings to your product: ** Company + Industry insights: tailor experiences to a customer’s industry, growth stage, and evolving needs. ** Technographics: understand their tech environment to improve compatibility troubleshooting, and integration opportunities. ** Professional and org changes: Keep user records up to date as champions leave and decision-makers shift, reducing churn risk. When applications are fueled by enriched data, they stop being static tools, and become intelligent systems that anticipate, guide and adapt. Ready to see how enriched data can power the next generation of smarter applications? • AI talent doesn’t reflect the wider workforce—it’s younger, more male, and more credentialed. Nearly 60% of AI engineers are men, and more than half hold at least a bachelor’s degree. That raises two challenges for education leaders: 1) Equity: How do we broaden access to the skills fueling AI growth? 2) Lifelong learning: How do we make sure those already in the workforce can re-skill as AI spreads beyond tech? The next wave of AI capability won’t come from the same narrow pool—it will depend on inclusive, flexible education systems that reach more learners and connect more directly to evolving skills demand. Explore how these insights can guide your institution in Lightcast’s new post: AI Pathways: How People Get Into AI Jobs and What It Means for Education. https://lnkd.in/eTrpGhXb

  • AI may be reshaping the job market—but the education-to-AI pipeline is far from direct. Only 11% of qualifications held by AI engineers are actually AI-focused. Most studied adjacent fields like computer science or math, and many learned AI skills on the job. For educators, that signals a major opportunity: students don’t need to specialize in AI to succeed in it. They need flexibility—programs that blend technical literacy, problem-solving, and communication to help them pivot as new fields emerge. As AI transforms work, education must evolve from preparing students for specific jobs to preparing them for career adaptability. • In HR, AI adoption isn’t being led from the top—it’s happening from the ground up. Our Lightcast data done in collaboration with AIHR | Academy to Innovate HR shows that 3.9% of talent acquisition job postings now require AI skills, compared to just 1% in compensation roles and 0.9% in HR assistants. Recruiters are using AI to rank candidates, automate communication, and generate job postings in seconds. This bottom-up trend challenges traditional change management. Rather than setting a top-down vision and waiting for implementation, HR leaders must enable safe experimentation, amplify local innovators, and turn grassroots wins into enterprise strategy. Transformation in HR starts at the practitioner level. The opportunity for leaders is to harness it before it races ahead.
