Some of you may have already heard... it's the end of an era for Melissa Huff and her state management. I've been so blessed to serve alongside her in this role the past few years. When Lighthouse began back in 2023, we talked about the possibility that one day, we would need to step away from our state association management and fully focus on our business. We believe that time has now come, and Melissa will be stepping away from her role as Director in Tennessee and Louisiana. A transition process is already underway and she will be working closely with both states to find and train a replacement. We are excited about the next season for Lighthouse. There are many unknowns ahead of us, but we look forward to seeing where God guides us as His path is revealed. We are so thankful to have such active boards in both states. They have been so encouraging and supportive as we take this next step. As we told our boards and state members, we plan to continue building into this industry as it has built into us. After 11 incredible years of leadership, TNSSA announces the transition of our Executive Director, Melissa Huff. Melissa has been instrumental in growing our association, strengthening our community, and advancing the self storage industry across Tennessee. Never forget...
Another generational event has happened, and it's worth taking a break from self storage to talk about. The events of yesterday, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, remind us of the last great generational tragedy from 24 years ago today. In both cases, evil individuals plotted and carried out deadly killings against people and ideals they disagreed with. Innocents lost their lives, children were left without parents, wives were widowed, and our nation was shaken to its core. But even amidst the sorrow, hope was there. Perhaps this most recent event will also bring the unity that comes in the aftermath of death. Charlie knew that his death was a possibility. He got threats all the time. So why did he keep speaking out, engaging in dialogue and seeking cultural change? He did it because he was driven by something deeper, something more important than his own life. He knew he was fulfilling a calling given to him by God. He burned bright in that calling and wasn't shy about declaring where his true hope was anchored. He had the hope of Christ, and he wanted others to share in that hope, in the joy of a life lived according to principles he found in scripture. Our eastern trip turned out some great shots! Now it's time to head south to Savannah and make the rounds in Florida for our September updates.
