LKB is proud to have partnered with the Nassau County Department of Public Works on the successful rehabilitation of the Bayville Bridge—a key bascule bridge linking Bayville and Mill Neck. This federally funded project, delivered under NYSDOT local aid procedures, included full design and construction support. Major upgrades included structural, mechanical, and electrical enhancements, widened sidewalks, upgraded lighting, and a fully automated lift system—improving safety, reliability, and community access. We’re honored to support critical infrastructure that keeps Long Island connected. #BayvilleBridge #Infrastructure #CivilEngineering #PublicWorks #LKBEngineering #BridgeRehabilitation #NYSDOT

About us
LKB Engineering is born from a long history of expertise, growth, and collaboration. The organization is built on the legacy and foundation of both the Vertex Companies and Lockwood, Kessler, and Bartlett Incorporated. As we enter the next phase of evolution we will expand upon the expertise and reputation of the past while embracing innovations and progress into the future. The Vertex Companies, founded in 1995, brought on engineering in 2011 with the acquisition of McGlamery Engineering Group, LLC in Denver Colorado. They continued to grow their engineering services organically and in 2017 brought in Andrew Chagnon to expand engineering services in the Northeast and ultimately run the engineering design practice company wide. In 2021 Vertex Acquired Lockwood, Kessler, And Bartlett, Inc. of NY significantly expanding the engineering services they can offer. The same year the hired Dave Macedonio to help lead the New York market. The origins of Lockwood, Kessler & Bartlett, Inc. trace back to the year 1889, which rested between the American Civil War and World War I, where the primary means of short-distance transportation was achieved by using a horse and carriage, North Dakota became the 39th state, and Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President of the United States. In 2024 Dave Macedonio and Andrew Chagnon worked in partnership with Vertex to execute a management buyout of the engineering design practice from Vertex and began to operate independently as LKB Engineering PLLC. This was a strategic decision which aligns with Vertex’s focus on expanding their core services (which include forensics, expert services, project advisory, compliance, and regulatory consulting) and the realignment empowers LKB Engineering to make strategic decisions regarding growth, hiring, and areas of practice, focusing solely on advancing engineering excellence. At the same time, it fosters a strong collaborative relationship between the two companies.

On Friday, April 25th, LKB observed Arbor Day as an opportunity to reflect on the essential role trees play in fostering a sustainable future. As engineers, we recognize the importance of designing with the natural environment in mind. Whether it’s integrating green infrastructure, preserving tree canopies, or supporting sustainable land development, we believe engineering and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. Together, we can continue shaping a more sustainable world—one tree at a time. #ArborDay #SustainableEngineering #EnvironmentalStewardship #GreenInfrastructure #EngineeringForTheFuture

On April 9, 2025, the Owner’s Project Manager, Peregrine Group LLC, hosted a tour of the new Central Falls High School, which is currently under construction. Staff from the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) as well as leadership members of the Central Falls School District were in attendance. The feedback from RIDE and the School District was very positive; in fact, everyone was excited about the larger classrooms that contain an abundance of daylight and exterior views of the City. Central Falls has a robust number of career technical education programs, and everyone was thrilled to see these CTE programs distributed throughout the new school. The new 123,844sf Central Falls High School, which will serve 751 students in grades 9-12, embraces the small city urban context with a minimized overall footprint that maximizes exterior views and greenspace. Ai3 is thrilled to continue collaborating with the City, the School Department, RIDE, the OPM, and the General Contractor (Brait Construction Managers) in making this beautiful new school come to life for the students, staff, and community of Central Falls, RI.
