At the LCPS Dual Language Immersion Science Fiesta Camp, rising first and second grade students engage in hands-on science exploration while developing bilingualism, biliteracy, and bicultural understanding — essential skills for success in a globally connected world. Through Spanish-immersive experiences, students strengthen language comprehension, expand vocabulary and build confidence while making meaningful connections across both English and Spanish. These early experiences reinforce critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, helping prepare students for future success in college, career, and life. Special thanks goes to Lewis Parker, through the Loudoun Education Foundation, for supporting this work through materials, resources, and hands-on science kits. Together, we are helping the next generation of learners thrive. Read more: https://lcps.pub/45968g1

Loudoun County Public Schools students are making an impact on the global stage. Seven student-led projects were featured in the Map Gallery at the 2025 Esri User Conference, the world’s largest event dedicated to geographic information systems (GIS). Two projects received special recognition for their outstanding use of GIS in education, tackling complex issues such as carbon emissions and climate vulnerability. These accomplishments reflect the power of real-world learning and the strength of LCPS’s dual-enrollment Geospatial Science course, offered in partnership with James Madison University. High School English Learner Teacher Amanda Stoermer, Stone Bridge, spent a week at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina, where she participated in the Marine Corps Educators Workshop. This immersive experience helps educators have informative conversations with students who are considering military service and allows educators to learn what their students with military aspirations might one day experience. https://lcps.pub/41901XJ

LCPS students leveled up this summer! Through the PROPEL and Level Up STEM camps, elementary and middle school students across Loudoun explored robotics, engineering, computer science and real-world problem solving while strengthening communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills. Both camps’ culminating and inspiring showcases provide students the opportunities to share their discoveries with families, staff and community partners. A huge thank-you to PROPEL and Level Up business partners, Northrop Grumman and the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, who helped make Summer 2025 a STEM-sational success!
