🚚 𝐋𝐂𝐁𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥: 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 — #𝟏 𝐎𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 (GSE) Today, we are excited to kick off our new series, "LCBI logistics label: Making of", highlighting the pilot projects shaping the first pan-European carbon label for logistics buildings. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬? They are invaluable real-world test sites allowing LCBI Comtech to validate and refine its carbon calculation methods and benchmarks. The Orbassano Project, led by GSE in Italy, is a striking example. With a surface of 36,305 m², it is the country’s first logistics building to include a contractual limit on embodied carbon: GSE pledged to deliver a facility below 500 kgCO₂/m² (stages A–D), ultimately achieving 325 kgCO₂e/m² — exceeding the target by 30%. This rigorous and data-driven approach covered every project phase: material selection (low-carbon concrete, recycled aggregates…), enhanced supplier requirements, continuous carbon tracking, and independent certification. 🔎 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫? The depth and accuracy of the carbon data sets a new benchmark for LCBI’s logistics methodology. Last week, our Director Cécile Dap had the pleasure of joining the Built by Nature South London Biobased Tour, organized as part of the Built by Nature Prize 2025. 🏗️🌿   This inspiring two-day event gathered passionate professionals from all Europe exploring how timber and biobased materials are reshaping urban environments and reducing the carbon footprint of construction. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏 – 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 Cécile had the opportunity to visit several emblematic sites showcasing timber innovation: 👉 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 – a sensitive timber-led restoration of a 19th-century civic building devastated by fire, proving how heritage and modern sustainable design can coexist beautifully. 🔎 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤 from dRMM studio – cross-laminated timber workspaces designed to support local manufacturing and redefine “light industrial” architecture through environmental, social, and urban sustainability. 🪵 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞, from Landsec – a major urban regeneration project bringing 35,000 m² of new workspaces and green spaces to central London, reusing 80% of the existing industrial structure, achieving an ambitious embodied carbon target 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐 – 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 The Built by Nature Prize 2025 celebrated pioneering, nature-based construction projects from across Europe. 🎤 During the ceremony, Paul King, CEO of Built by Nature, reminded everyone how 𝑐𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠 𝑘𝑒𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑡 𝑒𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, especially in the face of biodiversity, climate, and social crises. Como cofundador y actual presidente de Asociación Ecómetro quiero presentaros una alianza estratégica con Low Carbon Building Initiative (LCBI) para el desarrollo de la certificación de Edificio Zero Carbon en España. En 2013 fundamos Ecometro Asociación para la investigación y la medición de los impactos en la arquitectura desde una perspectiva holística. El #CO2 se ha convertido en el caballo de troya del análisis medioambiental. En 2017 creamos la certificación #CO2nulo que ahora vamos a fusionar con la certificación LCBI Certification y darle una escala internacional. Esperamos que esta alianza se una a otras ya que en este periodo de cuatro años 2026/2030 tenemos el reto de incorporar de forma masiva la medición y certificación de la Huella de Carbono en la edificación. La alianza será presentada en el Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid - COAM el próximo jueves 23 de octubre, con Irina Tumini directora de Ecómetro y Cécile Dap directora de LCBI, un evento que reunirá a expertos, expertas y representantes del sector público y privado para debatir sobre los retos y las oportunidades que trae la descarbonización del sector de la construcción.
