Out in the fields, Maine farms are struggling through a “flash drought”—one more stressor in an already tough line of work. If your grandparents are from Maine, chances are one of them lost a beloved family farm. Between the 1950s and mid-1970s alone, Maine lost over half its farms and half its farmland.
